[edit] Welcome

Welcome to Wikipedia, and thanks for your contributions to the article on National University. However please stop adding inappropriate categories and templates, and please stop removing the "unreferenced" tag until references have been added. Any unverifiable material may be removed from an article, so you should find and add sources for your assertions. ·:· Will Beback ·:· 22:11, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

Sorry for the revision of the 'National university' page. Unfortunately our university actually bears the exact name of the page and we do not wish to lose traffic from those who would like to find more info about our university. Perhaps the 'See Also' section will suffice. In reference to your tag on the article for California's National University - the article does site a few specific sources/ references (especially in the 'Recognition' section). Please do look into whether or not the sources which are cited in the article are genuine as you wish. (You will find that they are). Or, if we are missing something in our understanding of the tag which you are placing on our page, please fill us in so that we can rectify it. Thanks, and have a good new year!

Thank's for working cooperatively. When I say that there are no references, I mean that nothing is cited. Imagein you're writing a research paper. Use footnotes. An example of a problem passage is this:
  • In 2003, NU received its second Eureka Award - the only institution of higher education to be recognized. In 2002, NU was the first university since 1996 to be recognized with a Eureka ("Baby Baldrige") Award by the California Council for Excellence.
How can a reader verify this information? Does the California Council for Excellence have a website listing award recipients? Was it covered in a newspaper article? What's our source for this information? This line is even more problematic:
  • National University is the second largest private university in the state of California and is widely recognized throughout most of the Western United States for its ability to offer flexible class schedules to working adults while also maintaining high standards of excellence in its academic integrity.
According to whom is it the 2nd largest? According to whom is it widely recognized for its high standards?
Separately, please be more careful with the categories and templates. The "California" template is not for every institution in the state - its purpose is to facilitate navigation between articles on cities and counties. The same iwth "California county seats". As for the categories, the article should only go in the "sharpest" or lowest categories. For example, Los Angeles is in Southern California, so the latter category is redundant. ·:· Will Beback ·:· 22:27, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

So I'm going to clean up the article again, to address the issues mentioned above. Please don't simply revert my edits as you've done repeatedly. If you disagree with something please use the article talk page (talk:National University) to discuss it. Happy New Year. ·:· Will Beback ·:· 21:21, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

I'll answer your questions at talk:National University. ·:· Will Beback ·:· 22:21, 1 January 2008 (UTC)
"Will", the first citation is mentioned in the Accreditation section with a reference for a website embedded. Thus, the statement in the tag "This article does not cite any references or sources." is not factual. Secondly, there are numerous universities which site much more extensive information without any such tags being added to their descriptions - I will list them all for you so that you can reprimand them if you wish. Finally, there are numerous universities which also use the templates. The templates will help users navigate between our article and others of related interest. I see it written nowhere that the templates may not be used other than by your comments, and the allowance of their use by other universities seems to indicate some degree of bias as it relates to your edits of our page. We challenge you to find any statement of inaccuracy on our page. Even the statement made in the opening paragraph regarding the perception of the university's reputation is backed up based on the 2007 report by the EESE. We feel that you are being somewhat selective in your decisions regarding which articles to edit rather than making such decisions based on universal and consistent standards. Obviously that is concerning to us. We do realize however that we may be wrong in this sentiment, and so we ask that if you are going to edit our article in this manner that you also edit all articles and all university descriptions in the same manner. Along these lines and if you do wish to continue reprimanding National U, we will help point you in the direction of all universities which may be in need of your attention (and I am sure you know that the list is extensive). Obviously we have better things to do with our time, and I am sure you do as well, so we would prefer to avoid such endeavors. It is not our desire to become engaged in a nonsensical editing war as it is simply an unproductive waste of time, but we have posted nothing but factual information to our page (and we do have at least one embedded citation, as well as others which state where any person of interest may find the info of inquiry), and the use of the same templates which you are deleting is employed by many other universities with no citations attached to their pages.

This computer is used by quite a few members of our staff. Thus, if you wish to discuss this matter off-line more formally I will be happy to do so in order to see it resolved more efficiently. Let me know and I will provide you with the appropriate contact information. -Dr. Wiley

[edit] NU citations

No problem. I don't like to see articles on clearly notable subjects struggling in this area, and receiving undue critique. Any further help with this type of editing, just post to my talk page again. Best wishes and happy new year from Britain. Ref (chew)(do) 13:16, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

Sorry to take so long sorting out the reference in the NU article. I've done that, plus converted another link into a reference. Have a look here to learn how to create "inline citations", as they call it. Best wishes. Ref (chew)(do) 02:20, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
