Being a registered users gives you access to various tools, which can help you in creating and editing articles. If you have any problems or questions, ask me again. - Mtmelendez (Talk|UB|Home) 03:13, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
It means you must re-type the password you chose. This is to make sure you entered the password correctly. If your password is "guitar", just enter "guitar" again. This is to make sure that the first password you chose was not "giutar" as entered by mistake. - Mtmelendez (Talk|UB|Home) 03:29, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
Once you have your username and your password, click on the link on the top right corner of the page (it's at the very top!). Enter them both and you should be logged in under your new username. To make sure, instead of the Log in at the top, it should say you username followed by my talk, my preferences, my watchlist, etc. - Mtmelendez (Talk|UB|Home) 03:54, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
Well, there's two types of protections. The first is a semi-protection, which limits IP addresses and new users (including you) from editing. Wait a few days and you should be able to edit the article. The other type is full protection, which noone but administrators can edit. - Mtmelendez (Talk|UB|Home) 22:14, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Military history of Vietnam
I'm not sure these belong in that template. Can we discuss this at Wikipedia:WikiProject Vietnam? Badagnani 01:44, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
The main thing is, it overlaps with other time periods already in the template, and I looked at some templates for other countries like China, and don't see the World Wars there. This is why I suggest proposing this at Wikipedia:WikiProject Vietnam, so we can build a consensus for this, and how to do it. Badagnani 02:15, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Removal of Chinese characters from articles about Vietnamese history
You have been removing Chinese characters from articles about Vietnamese history without explaining your actions. While Vietnamese currently do not use Chinese characters, they are appropriate for the time period being described. DHN 08:17, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
- Please discuss your opinion regarding this issue at Wikipedia:WikiProject Vietnam before making changes wholesale. That way, your edits will be more likely to stick. DHN 09:23, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Your recent edits
Hi, there. Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did to Cambodia under Vietnamese occupation (1979-1989). Your edits appear to constitute vandalism and have been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. KnowledgeOfSelf | talk 04:53, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Re:Duy Tan
Use this picture. It's taken in 1907, so it should be in the public domain by now. DHN (talk) 01:53, 16 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] November 2007
Please do not replace Wikipedia pages with blank content, as you did to Duy Tan. Blank pages are harmful to Wikipedia because they have a tendency to confuse readers. If it is a duplicate article, please redirect it to an appropriate existing page. If the page has been vandalised, please revert it to the last legitimate version. If you feel that the content of a page is inappropriate, please edit the page and replace it with appropriate content. If you believe there is no hope for the page, please see the deletion policy for how to proceed. Badagnani (talk) 10:14, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Category nesting
Please check the Manual of Style; "Battles of X" categories need to be at the same level as "Wars of X" categories, not placed inside them. Thanks! Kirill 14:02, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
- I've created Category:Military operations involving Vietnam for your use. Hopefully that'll make the intended relationship between the sub-categories (per WP:MILMOS#CONFLICTS) a bit clearer. Kirill 14:10, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Re:Bao cap
It seems to be translated as "subsidy period" and "Nam Bac Trieu" is the article Southern and Northern Dynasties of Vietnam. DHN (talk) 10:18, 23 December 2007 (UTC)
- "Uprising and fight for national independence", "The Golden Age and territorial expansion", "Southern and Northern Dynasties and the national partition", "End of monarchy and the rise of Communism". DHN (talk) 20:07, 23 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Re:Translation
In English, it would be: "Don't bother doing it! I have only one love. In my heart there is only the pharaoh, and nobody can make me forget him. I will die if necessary to remain faithful to him!" DHN (talk) 06:01, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
- Note that pharaoh is only applicable to native Egyptian rulers. Greek rulers of Egypt, such as Cleopatra and Ptolemy XIII should not be referred to as pharaohs. DHN (talk) 06:04, 4 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Dinosaurs
Hello, 96.229.179.106;
Birds are dinosaurs because they evolved from small theropods. The dinosaurs that are closest to early birds are deinonychosaurs, like Microraptor.
Dinosaurs as we usually think of them did not fly or live completely in the water. When birds are included, of course this goes out the window, but it's usually simpler to think of the two as different things. J. Spencer (talk) 01:12, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
- Well, the reason animals like plesiosaurs, pterosaurs, etc. are not dinosaurs is that they have various anatomical difference from dinosaurs. Even the earliest marine reptiles, for example, had limbs that stuck out to the side, whereas dinosaurs had them tucked under the body, and this leads to a lot of differences in the arms, legs, shoulders, and hips (in fact, it would be very hard for dinosaurs to stick their hind legs to the sides because the hip joint is a peg and socket, and the knees and ankles were simple hinges). For better or worse, scientists decided over a century ago to limit dinosaurs to a few specific groups. (I'm a fan of pterosaurs, plesiosaurs, champsosaurs, and some of the other groups of prehistoric reptiles myself.) J. Spencer (talk) 01:52, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] East Timor template
Thanks for creating the template. Nice work and a great improvement. I've added articles to it and have been inserting it into articles. kind regards. --Merbabu (talk) 04:22, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Virus question
From what you have explained, it sounds like you have come across a marketing tool that scares you into buying a virus/spyware removal program. Why not just download Adaware or Spybot? From memory they are free. Anyway, I am no expert so don't trust my opinion 100%! --Merbabu (talk) 09:40, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] "History of Malaysia" template
I'd agree that simplification would be of benefit. The Indonesia template mostly lists the main phases only in their order, whereas Malaysia shows these phases but also particular events under each phase - although of course we could still paste the template on the event pages. However, you might find this hard to convince other editors.
Also, feel free to post on my talk page, but in future please don't write over your previous comments. For a new topic, you can start a new section using the "+" button next to "edit this page". As for the picture on Vietnam wiki, to use it on en wiki (or any wiki) you should upload it to wikipedia commons. To do this, you need to download the full resolution pic to your machine, then upload it - (use this page). From there, you just link to en or whatever wikipedia you want. --Merbabu (talk) 01:20, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
