8th Punjab Regiment

The 8th Punjab Regiment was a regiment of the British Indian Army from 1923 to 1946 and the Partition of India. During the partition, the 8th Punjab Regiment was allocated to Pakistan. The 8th Punjab Regiment had its origins in the Madras Army; 6 old Regiments renamed and reformed as battalions of the new 8th Punjab Regiment. By the end of the Second World War the Regiment consisted of 14 Battalions.[1]
