It is commonly accepted that beta software refers to any pre-release software being externally tested. I am currently trying to get {{beta software}} renamed to not use the word "beta", though, so that these issues can be resolved. - Josh (talk | contribs) 04:59, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
- Josh is quite correct. I'd like to add that while the template name is {{beta software}} the wording of the the displayed template quite clearly indicates that it refers to software "in development" and not necessarily an actual beta version. Windows XP SP3 is still in development at this time so the template is definitely applicable. --AussieLegend (talk) 06:07, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
