From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

[edit] April, 2008

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, adding content without citing a reliable source, as you did to Richard Ofshe, is not consistent with our policy of verifiability. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. If you are familiar with Wikipedia:Citing sources, please take this opportunity to add references to the article. Note that if you actually are Dr. Ofshe, you are barred from editing your own wikipedia page - see our conflict of interest policy. Also, personal knowledge is not a reliable source. If you are Dr. Ofshe, you can discuss your own page on Talk:Richard Ofshe, but can not edit it directly. Any changes must be verified in reliable sources, which you are allowed to provide and discuss, but changes to the page must be mediated by other editors (not a problem normally if the changes are reasonable, not unduly self-serving and well-sourced). Note also that our biography of living persons policy applies, which increases the standards required for sourcing of information (primarily, unsourced text is a bad thing). Please do not add unsourced or original content, as you did to Richard Ofshe. Doing so violates Wikipedia's verifiability policy. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. WLU (talk) 14:56, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

This is the last warning you will receive for your disruptive edits.
The next time you vandalize Wikipedia, as you did to Richard Ofshe, you will be blocked from editing. WLU (talk) 15:43, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

Note that I have reported you to WP:AIV and am expecting that you will be blocked shortly. Again, if you are Richard Ofshe, you are violating WP:COI and are not a reliable source for your own wikipedia page. If you are not, then information added to individual's wikipedia pages must be sourced, per WP:BLP. In addition, information must be neutral. If you would like to discuss this with me after your block has expired, please use my talk page where I can explain and justify in greater detail. WLU (talk) 16:13, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Your block

I've given you a short twelve-hour block to give you time to learn more about Wikipedia. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, which means that we only need information that can be verified in reliable sources, and we don't need anyone's opinion or analysis about the subject, on either side. I read the article Richard Ofshe, and it seemed to me to be fully sourced and to explain both sides clearly without taking a side. If you think there are verifiable facts in the article that are missing, or incorrect, we'd be glad to help you fix them. But I'm afraid you won't be able to add your personal response to that article; that sort of response would belong more properly on your own web site. Let me know if there's any help or advice you need; I'm glad to help if I can, especially if there's something inaccurate in the article that I missed. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 15:16, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 12 hours in accordance with Wikipedia's blocking policy for adding unsourced analysis to Richard Ofshe. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make constructive contributions. If you believe this block is unjustified, you may contest the block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} below. FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 15:16, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
