You are welcome to continue editing articles without logging in, but you may wish to create an account. Doing so is free, requires no personal information, and provides several benefits. For one thing, if you edit without a username, your IP address is used to identify you instead.
In any case, I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your comments on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your IP address (or username if you're logged in) and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question and then place {{helpme}}
before the question on your talk page. Again, welcome! — Gasheadsteve Talk to me 11:57, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Your edit to Paul Hawksbee
Please do not create hoaxes, such as you did in the article Paul Hawksbee. Please do not attempt to put misinformation into Wikipedia to test our ability to detect and remove it. This has been done before, with varying results. Most hoaxes are marked for deletion within a few hours after they are created. Some Wikipedians suspect that the majority of hoaxes here are attempts to test the system. Kindly — do not disrupt Wikipedia to illustrate a point. If you are interested in how accurate Wikipedia is, a more constructive test method is to try to find inaccurate statements that are already in Wikipedia, and then to check to see how long they have been in place and, if possible, correct them.
The type of edit that you made would be more at home at Uncyclopedia, I suggest you try there next time. — Gasheadsteve Talk to me 11:57, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Acid house
Greetings. All information you add to Wikipedia articles has to have been published elsewhere, as per the verifiability policy. Your edits to the acid house article were partially reverted today due to lack of citations for potentially libelous material about a living person, a situation for which there is zero tolerance on Wikipedia; see the biographies of living persons policy. So I'm afraid you cannot, without citing any sources, claim that Paul Oakenfold and friends took MDMA. If you can find where that was published in a book or magazine, then sure, but even then, it's advisable to explicitly write that the author of that source made such a claim, rather than presenting it as if it were a matter of fact. Also, you may want to pick up a copy of last month's Mixmag; a reputable music journalist wrote a piece in it in which he says that the whole Oakenfold/Ibiza/acid house legend is a myth.
Similarly, your other historical claims, while plausible, really should be cited as well, so I've added "citation needed" templates to that material. Since you mentioned that the 1987 Sunrise party was widely covered by the press, it shouldn't be too much trouble for you to find specific references to it in newspapers and magazines. WP:CITE can help you with citing whatever sources you find. Good luck, and if you need help, don't hesitate to ask on Talk:Acid house! Thanks. —mjb 01:36, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] January 2008
Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, adding content without citing a reliable source, as you did to Dave McAuley, is not consistent with our policy of verifiability. This is especially important when dealing with biographies of living people, but applies to all Wikipedia articles. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. If you are already familiar with Wikipedia:Citing sources, please take this opportunity to add your reference to the article. Thank you. Tanthalas39 (talk) 17:05, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
- If this is a shared IP address, and you didn't make the edit, consider creating an account for yourself so you can avoid further irrelevant notices.
The recent edit you made to John Hilton constitutes vandalism, and has been reverted. Please do not continue to vandalize pages; use the sandbox for testing. Thanks. ScarianCall me Pat 17:08, 22 January 2008 (UTC))
