Programs are not always reliable, and they sometimes do the wrong thing if there is anything odd in the wikitext in your comment or the surrounding context. Just use the tildes.

- Also, please don't start comments with white space. It puts them in a box and alters the font, and has a few other effects that are unwelcome. It prevents proper justification on small screens, and so on. If you want a comment to be indented, use colons at the start of a line. Multiple colons give multiple indent levels. If you report a sockpuppet accusation at Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets, it will be looked into by Wikipedia administrators, and if verified, the relevant accounts will be banned.
