Hello... FYI, your changes to Toronto were reversed - not because they're incorrect, but because Wikipedia convention with respect to the English language is to use the local dialect. For Toronto, it's Canadian English, so "football" refers to the Canadian/American game, "soccer" refers to what the rest of the world knows as football, and "rugby" is recognized without additional text. Cheers. --Ckatzchatspy 20:37, 1 February 2007 (UTC)
- With regards to your message, please read through the Wikipedia style guide, particularly the section addressing national varieties of English. You'll see that it is quite specific about when and where to use a certain dialect. As the Toronto article involves a Canadian city, Canadian English conventions are to be used. I understand your concerns about the language, but it is not appropriate to use an article in order to make a point. Thanks. (BTW, I have moved the discussion about this subject to Talk:Toronto#Terminology for sports teams. Please direct any additional comments to that page. Thanks. --Ckatzchatspy 08:31, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
