[edit] Welcome

Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions.

Currently, you are editing without a username. You can continue to do so, as you are not required to log in to Wikipedia to read and edit articles; however, logging in will result in a username being shown instead of your IP address (yours is 86.12.249.208). Logging in does not require any personal details, and there are many other benefits for logging in.

When you edit pages:

  • Please respect others' copyrights; do not copy and paste the contents from webpages directly.
  • Please use a neutral point of view when editing articles; this is possibly the most important Wikipedia policy.
  • If you are testing, please use the Sandbox to do so.
  • Do not add unreasonable contents into any articles, such as copyrighted text, advertisement messages, and text that is not related to an article's subject. Adding such content or editing articles maliciously is considered vandalism.

The Wikipedia Tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. For now, if you are stuck, you can click the edit this page tab above, type {{helpme}} in the edit box, and then click Save Page; an experienced Wikipedian will be around shortly to answer any questions you may have. Also feel free to ask a question on my Talk page. I will answer your questions as far as I can! Thank you again for contributing to Wikipedia./RobbieC 09:28, 08 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Andy Murray Message Board

On a more personal level - welcome to the Andrew Murray editing community. I hope that you'll find the time and inclination to add to the page in areas other than just the links to the Andrew Murray Message Board - your help would be most appreciated! I apologise if this is not the case, but you would seem to be the same person who was working on the page previously from User talk:86.17.152.20 and from User talk:86.12.249.208. If you are, then it would be really helpful to the rest of the community, and would make me at least more confident that you mean to act and discuss in good faith if you were to use a user name, rather than act anonymously.

Thanks for discussing the changes you want to make on the Talk page. It helps us when you do use talk to sign your contributions by ending them with a signature (four "tilde" (~) characters in a row. That way we can more easily work out where what you say ends, where the next comment begins, and not confuse yours with someone else's.

As for getting the AMMB back onto the links list - I'd be in favour of it myself, as would Mark, as, I think, would Vonce. We do need, however, to present a good, well - reasoned, case to rest of the people who care about the Andrew Murray page. Just adding the link, and then getting into personal arguments on the talk page won't help our cause, in fact it'll probably just irritate those who edit the page but really don't care one way or another what links, if any appear there.

As you'll remember, it was the edit war between the AMMB and MurraysWorld that brought the links situation onto the talk page in the first page, and ended up with all except one being taken down. This was because a majority of people wanted few (if any) links there, and for those that are to be demonstrably important to someone who wanted to know about Andy (or at least that was my interpretation of the discussion). I presented some good arguments for the inclusion of AMMB, but by that time I think everyone was bored with the discussion, and I only got support from Mark.

so let me know what you want to do about this: It's going to be a fair bit of effort for us to get the link added with the support of a consensus, and to do it we'll need:

  • good arguments
  • a number of people to make the effort to look at the AMMB and agree that it's a useful addition to the page
  • the impression that we're "serious" wikipedians, who want to co- operate on the project.
  • The impression that we're not just trying to advertise/ increase traffic to the AMMB.

If you fancy putting some effort in to build a campaign and hopefully a consensus for the AMMB, I'd be keen to help & support you. If it all sounds like too much hassle, I also understand!

Thanks for Listening RobbieC 09:57, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

I support every thing RobbieC has said and I will also be in favour for inclusion of the AMMB link. However it's important that you stop adding the link and also moving MurraysWorld at the bottom which is disrespectful and obviously unfair. Mark7144 22:45, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
