Today I decided to begin an article on the harp on the Scottish Gaelic language version of Wikipedia. Having only written the opening part of the article, I have later found
1: the article erroneously retitled by someone who clearly does not have the best knowledge of Gaelic grammar
2: that the same is adding what I know to be unsubstantiatable statements about the harp to the article
As a result, I attempted to remove the material I composed from Wikipedia. But I found
3: that the same has blocked me from continuing to write the article that originated with me
4: that the same has cited vandalism as the excuse for blocking me from removing what I have written
Emotionally it's difficult to see why anyone would want to submit an article to the Scottish Gaelic language version of Wikipedia when they are so easily disenfranchised and when Wikipedia appears to find it so easy deny me the right to withdraw them, especially when hitting a problem right in the middle of the compositional process.
I find I can't even establish contact with the person who has done all this. Should I simply expect this to happen if I embark on writing an article for the Scottish version of Wikipedia?

It does sound difficult. I assume that you've attempted to talk through your issues with this user on their talk page/the talk page of the article about the insubstantial/unsubstantiated (I'm afraid I'm not sure which you meant) information and that's what you mean when you say you can't establish contact?
In that case, you may wish to note your objections to their claims and writing on the page's public talk page.
As regards your points three and four, when you added your information to the encyclopedia, you did agree to license it under the GFDL, and agree to allow others to edit it mercilessly, so I'm afraid I can't be any help there. It's just part of how wikipedia works Elishabet (talk) 21:54, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for your comment. I find that I've been completely blocked from Scottish Wikipedia and cannot contact anyone on any page, even public talk areas.
I meant insubstantiatable, as I wrote it!
As regards points three and four, they don't concern the editing of my material by others. They concern someone on Wikipedia blocking me from editing or completely removing my own article/material, which could be regarded as an opposite problem. Can anyone suggest how I might be able to communicate in response with Scottish Wikipedia?
- Ok, what you can do is put the text {{unblock|reason}} filling in the reason that you think you should be unblocked in under reason on your own talk page. It might be different phrasing, but you should still be allowed to edit your own talk page, and a template such as that will call the attention of an administrator to look at your situation. You will probably be able to find the actual text under the Scottish Wikipedia FAQ Elishabet (talk) 22:15, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 22:09, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

Tell me why I should be helpful enough to identify myself to Wikipedia administration which is forbidding me the right to defend myself? Right now, at http://gd.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Doras_na_coimhearsnachd, the person who has blocked me is justifying himself while I am blocked from responding to what he says. This is shocking behaviour. I run a webgroup myself and find this indefensible treatment of article writers.
- I had assumed that you were interested in going to some effort to defend yourself. If that isn't the case, then I'm afraid I cannot help you. Per Wikipedia's protocols, any article you help to edit you basically relinquish ownership of, which means that you can't choose later to blank a page, even if you created it. I'm afraid it still counts as vandalism. My suggestion would probably be to wait out the three days, and then, if you really care, work on the article and prove that you can be constructive. I have no doubt you could make a lot of improvements, but it's really up to you. Elishabet (talk) 23:25, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

Why should a new article writer be put in the position of defending himself if he chooses to blank a little, or a lot, of his article when composing it? Frankly, being unconstructive seems to be the forte of Wikipedia here.
- I'm afraid I don't know. Why should someone else have to defend someone who has blanked an article, even one created in most or in part by himself? Frankly, you have to do it because no one else will, and because you're the one who cares about it. I really am trying to help, but after a certain point there's only so much I think I can do. I'm not asking anyone to defend me here, I'm asking people on Wikipedia for help to get myself unblocked. Frankly, telling me I'm a vandal will not help me to achieve that. Telling me to work on the article will also not help me achieve that. Thank you for your correspondence and for letting me know that you cannot help me. I've decided to do something that no one has suggested and written to an arbiter about this.
- I'm very sorry. I did not mean to call you a vandal, merely to say that you actions unknowingly on your part did in fact constitute what is called vandalism on Wikipedia. I wish you luck in your appeal. Elishabet (talk) 00:18, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
That's very kind of you. Thank you very much.
[edit] Hi.
I was just wondering if you've had any luck in appealing to an administrator? Elishabet (talk) 00:47, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
