From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This IP address, 86.145.144.99, is registered to BT broadband, an Internet service provider through which numerous individual users may connect to the Internet via proxy. This IP address may be reassigned to a different person when the current user disconnects.
For this reason, a message intended for one person may be received by another. If you are editing from this address and are frustrated by irrelevant messages, you can avoid them by creating an account for yourself. In some cases, you may temporarily be unable to create an account due to efforts to fight vandalism, in which case, please see here.
If you are autoblocked repeatedly, we encourage you to contact your Internet service provider or IT department and ask them to contact Wikimedia's XFF project about enabling X-Forwarded-For HTTP headers on their proxy servers so that our editing blocks will affect only the intended user.
Caution should be used when blocking this IP or reverting its contributions without checking - if a block is needed, administrators should consider using a soft block with the template {{anonblock|optional comment}} as the block reason.
Note: In the event of vandalism from this address, abuse reports may be sent to your network administrator for further investigation. |

[edit] Your message on my user talk page
Hello and thank you for writing to me. I am not an admin so I don't have many of the lines of evidence available to them neither do I have access to checkuser evidence. All I can go on for Ducksofmercy (talk · contribs) is the visible (undeleted) edits and the incoming links to the user and user talk pages. While what I can see doesn't seem to be abusive, I do trust the sysops who have made the decision and that they must have good evidence in this case. The only thing that disturbs me is that the incoming links to the pages show no links from a checkuser case page, so any discussions must have taken place via email or on IRC- I should think it would be better that such things were done on-wiki so other editors can be sure all efforts were taken to avoid accusing an innocent editor. If you'd like me to pursue an appeal to a wider audience for your problem, it would pretty much be predicated on that single qualm of mine. Let me know how you wish to proceed. Thank you. —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 13:22, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
- Hi again. You could state your case at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents, but I'm not sure how far you'd get with that. The case has been reviewed and re-reviewed by several different trusted editors who all concur in the actions taken. While it is possible that involving a larger group of admins might help, I think it's probably unlikely to because I personally trust that the editors who have already commented have probably reached the correct conclusion. If it is the case that despite the evidence you have done nothing wrong; my apologies that you got caught in the wrong place at the wrong time- sometimes life just isn't very fair. Alternatively to (the probably futile gesture of) posting the case to WP:ANI, you could wait a few weeks then open a new account and edit from it following the rules. Creating a new account is not disallowed, so long as it's not used disruptively or to circumvent the rules. Sorry I can not offer better advice than this. Best wishes. —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 15:27, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
This is the discussion page for an anonymous user, identified by the user's numerical IP address. Some IP addresses change periodically, and may be shared by several users. If you are an anonymous user, you may create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other anonymous users. Registering also hides your IP address.
