{{unblock|This IP address is part of a /16 where the ISP (alicedsl) forcibly boots everyone every 24h, forcing a change to a random other IPA, negating any likely benefit from this block and given the length of the block guaranteeing lots of false positives (1:2^16 expected positive hit rate).}}

Your request to be unblocked has been granted for the following reason(s):

dynamic IP, not an open proxy

Please wait for a check if this IP address can be unblocked. It was not blocked due to disruption from this specific address - it was blocked since it was left in an unsafe state, where users from outside could edit through it to hide their tracks from Wikipedia. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 14:01, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
Note that by the looks of it, the unsafe box had this address 10 months ago, and will have had 300-odd different randomly picked addresses in the meantime, assuming always-on. Just saying that any five year block in this /16 isn't going to have a good true to false positive ratio. Of course, for the same reason (I got this address assigned this morning) you will find an entirely different box on this IPA than there was back when, and tomorrow it will be someone else again. 85.178.67.9 (talk) 14:45, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
Unfortunately it is not always possible to identify dynamic IPs, nor the duration of their assignment (especially for ADSL). However we generally try not to place such blocks on dynamic IPs in the first place, and to correct such blocks when we are made aware of them. Thank you for bringing it to our attention. Happy reading/editing. -- zzuuzz (talk) 14:52, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
