[edit] June 2007
Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, such as in Talk:Last of the Time Lords, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. Rambutan (talk) 16:40, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
Thanks I didn't realise that when I posted the comment. I'll try to do that in future. 83.105.96.154 17:48, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
- If this is a shared IP address, and you didn't make the edit, consider creating an account for yourself so you can avoid further irrelevant notices.
- Hi, you've misunderstood. I told you to button it because your comments had no purpose other than to cause disruption, and this is against policy. I also said that if you could explain how they enriched the encyclopedia, with reference to numerous other policies, you were welcome to make further comments. If you disagree with the non-censorship policy, however, that should be discussed at that policy's talkpage, not a Doctor Who talkpage.--Rambutan (talk) 17:14, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
I disagree. My original comment was in support of another user. Wikipedia is a great source of knowledge and once my son is old enough to use a PC I intend to encourage him to use it. However I do not want him clicking on a link that takes him to a site with gay porn on. This is not an anti-gay statement - I would make the same comment if for example a link were posted to pictures of Freema Ageyman appearing in Playboy. (Not that she has to the best of my knowledge I hasten to add)! The user Will then removed my comments on the basis that it was tantamount to censorship.
I know that different phrases mean different things in different parts of the World but where I live (Birmingham UK) the term "button it" is being quite rude and hence my suggestion that you do not use that phrase again. 83.105.96.154 17:48, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
- It is censorship. You cannot just remove links because you've got an objection to their content. That's policy. If you don't like it, then block Wikipedia on your kids' PC. Or, debate the policy. But until the policy changes, it stands. All you're doing is causing disruption, since your discussion cannot have any effect.--Rambutan (talk) 17:51, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
You must sign your comments. I've just removed another one.--Rambutan (talk) 18:17, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
- I didn't delete it, I made it look like this: —Preceding unsigned comment added by Example (talk • contribs) , since that's what policy says should happen.--Rambutan (talk) 18:33, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
Here is a before-and-after view of what I did at 18:16. I removed an unsigned comment. You were told at least twice about signing comments. I have never been told and have only forgotton to sign twice, and I've made nearly 3000 contributions. You were careless. Please also see WP:CIV and WP:POINT.--Rambutan (talk) 20:19, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Vulgar posts
I'm not interested into getting into an argument with you. However, the comment about vulgarity referred to this, which was both rude and vulgar. Please don't message me again, because I'm not interested. Please read WP:POINT very carefully.--Rambutan (talk) 14:06, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
- Yep, I made a mistake. But you clearly haven't read WP:POINT. There is no purpose to your actions, other than causing trouble. What is your ultimate aim on Wikipedia? Is it to have that link removed? If so, you can only accomplish that through discussing it on the policy's talkpage. That is the only possible way. So, don't continue griping about Last of the Time Lords.--Rambutan (talk) 14:15, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Jean-Marie Balestre
Re your entry in Jean-Marie Balestre's talk page, I have linked to an article which refers to his Nazi past and which also includes a photo of him in Nazi uniform. He never denied membership of the SS (how could he, what with the photos) but instead claimed he was a Resistance spy and everyone who could vouch for that was dead...how convenient. Looks like Nazi tendencies are mandatory for FIA bosses. 86.17.211.191 (talk) 18:59, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
