Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, adding content without citing a reliable source, as you did to Fabio Capello, is not consistent with our policy of verifiability. This is especially important when dealing with biographies of living people, but applies to all Wikipedia articles. Capello has not yet been named as England manager. Please stop editing the article to state that he has until you have a reliable source to cite. Thank you. robwingfield «T•C» 19:15, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Your edits to Birmingham City related players
Hi, please can you wait until the player actually signs before updating the articles. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 17:16, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
- Hi (again), you added Mauro Zárate citing skysports.com. You did right to say where you got it from, but what that article actually says, is Birmingham will unveil the signing of Mauro Zarate this weekend, skysports.com understands. That doesn't mean Birmingham City have announced the signing of Mauro Zárate, it means we think they probably will, but they haven't said so yet. That makes it speculation, not fact. So if you wait till the club announces a signing before putting it on Wikipedia, you'll be doing it even more right. After all, we're supposed to be writing an encyclopedia, not a gossip column. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 07:30, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
You'll be getting fed up with me. I'm undoing your addition about Carlo Costly and it's only polite to tell you why. The main club articles on here are intended to be an overview of the club as a whole. Obviously it's helpful if the squad is kept up to date, and any significant changes like a change of ownership or manager or winning something, but other than that it shouldn't need to be edited on a daily basis. Players come on trial very often, generally we don't even hear about it. Though if you think it deserves a mention, there is a season article Birmingham City F.C. Season 2007-08 where you could add a sentence about him to the January section, assuming you've got a source for it. If you do that, you could always mention the other triallist Dulee Johnson who won't be coming (it says here).
It does take a bit of getting used to, what belongs where (or doesn't belong) on Wikipedia articles, but don't be put off. The more we do, the better we get at doing it, or so I keep telling myself. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 13:29, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
