[edit] The Sandbox...
...is there for you to edit. But NOT the top line saying not to edit it. It meant what it said about banning, and you could be if you continue.--Honeycake 07:33, 14 Nov 2004 (UTC)
If it's so vitally important it should be unremovable by default. It wouldn't be particularly difficult to implement.
Right, that's it. I've put you on the page where you report vandalism because it's getting ridiculous. If you do it again, you WILL get blocked.--Honeycake 07:39, 14 Nov 2004 (UTC)
Is there an entry in the wikipedia rules section about this?
No there isn't but it is a rule nonetheless. If the hidden instructions say don't edit, then you don't. Simple as that. And you did after being warned in the actual line and after being warned by me, and whatsmore you just did it again and so you will be blocked. You are on the vandalism page, go and look for yourself.--Honeycake 07:43, 14 Nov 2004 (UTC)
I've read the vandalism page. If there's no rule, or guideline then there's no issue. If this is a vitally important issue it would warrant a single line or so in a rules or guidelines section.
- I am not willing to argue. You are breaking a rule. Even if you don't agree with it you don't break it. If you don't like our rules, go and make your own Wiki. you can download the software. I will ignore any further protests on your part and will continue removing your childish edits to the sandbox.--Honeycake 07:49, 14 Nov 2004 (UTC)
Please point me to where this rule is written, or indicated. I don't really mind if you ignore anything I say, I don't actually value your opinion. The idea of 'vandalism' in a sandbox also amuses me a little.
- I will go on removing your edits ot the sandbox for longer than you will go on making them. SO GIVE UP.--Honeycake 08:07, 14 Nov 2004 (UTC)
You haven't actually addressed my point, as you can't. I will eventually stop bothering, but not because you particularly bother me. I'd advise you to relax and try to enjoy your online experience more, you seem a little tense.
One idea may be to petition to get this idea put into writing as a rule or guideline, perhaps you could mention it to a senior member of the wikipedia team...
- ...or prehaps I couldn't. It is a rule, and you are breaking it. Simple, eh? Whatsmore, I know where you are editing from: Bristol, UK.--Honeycake 08:27, 14 Nov 2004 (UTC)
This 'rule' isn't written anywhere, is it? And yes, I live in Bristol, in the south-west of the United Kingdom. Is this supposed to intimidate me somehow, Gabriel? I mean, are you going to hunt me down and be dreadfully pedantic to me face to face or something? I don't think that your unfriendly manner and veiled threats would really be seen as much of an asset to the wikipedia community, would they?
Your IP carries a lot of data, and my message was simply intended to show that. The rule is written down...in the sandbox. And finally, wikipedia may complain to your ISP if you misuse your IP.
Please stop vandalising the sandbox header. Your earlier edits were offensive, and your later edits are just frustrating. It may be pedantic, but you are violating the principle of the rule. If you continue to be so childish, you will end up being blocked. -- FirstPrinciples 08:33, Nov 14, 2004 (UTC)
Could you please point me to where this rule is written out? Is it in the guidelines or rules section at all?
Wow, you people are really fucking uptight. Good day though - have fun. It's been a fun introduction to the wikipedia site. :D
- Wikipedia is a community, and there are certain expected standards of conduct. Being continually irritating - even if it's minor irritation - breaches the good faith expected of users. Also you did explicitly break some wikipedia rules, such as the Three revert rule. I'm sure you'll be warmly welcomed if you start contributing to Wikipedia constructively. -- FirstPrinciples 08:49, Nov 14, 2004 (UTC)
Point taken - thanks for what you wrote.
[edit] Point made
Ok, you've made your point. However, let's make it explicit. If you edit that line again, you will be blocked. Why? Because you are deliberately doing what the instructions indicate you should not do, and because you have been repeatedly warned not to. No harm, no foul, but you are tying up someone who could be spending their time in a more useful manner. I see no reason to allow you to continue to do so, and every reason to stop you. There are several places on Wikipedia where warnings are present saying that if you change the header you could be blocked. As Gabriel points out, the rule is written where you obviously have seen it. Ignore it at your own risk. It will be enforced. You've had your fun, but this is it. If you edit that line again, count yourself blocked. This is your last warning. SWAdair | Talk 08:36, 14 Nov 2004 (UTC)
You are now liable to being blocked without further warning -- FirstPrinciples 14:42, Nov 14, 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Blocked
You have been blocked for 24 hours for repeated vandalism, after warnings. Woof What you were doing yesterday was just silly, but not actually damaging -- sort of like pushing the boundaries to see where the line is actually drawn. Since then, you have deliberately vandalized several articles. Here, give me your wrist (light slap). Now, when the block expires, I would really love to see you try the other side for a while. Seriously, we're here because we love knowledge and want to help create the world's best encyclopedia. You wouldn't believe how many people would rather damage or destroy than create. How about checking Recent changes and look for vandalism. You might also want to read How to revert. Or better yet, choose a topic you're interested in and help improve our articles in that area. Honestly, give it a shot. Just try it for half an hour and see how you feel. Think about it. SWAdair | Talk 00:54, 15 Nov 2004 (UTC)
