User talk:82.198.250.71

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

School IP address Attention:

This IP address, 82.198.250.71, is registered to London Grid for Learning (UK secondary schools) and may be shared by multiple users of an educational institution. In the case of institutions using proxy servers, this IP address may in fact represent many users at many physical computers.

For this reason a message intended for one person may be received by another. Similarly an innocent user may get blocked for another user's vandalism. If you are editing from this address and are frustrated by irrelevant messages, you can avoid them by creating an account for yourself. In some cases you may temporarily be unable to create an account due to efforts to fight vandalism, in which case please read our advice on this situation.

Caution should be used when blocking this IP or reverting its contributions without checking - if a block is needed, administrators should consider a soft block with the template {{schoolblock|optional comment}} as the block reason.

Note: In the event of persistent vandalism from primary and secondary schools, anonymous editing may be disabled for up to 1 year at a time. Abuse reports may also be forwarded to your school administration for investigation in case of long-term abuse by registered users.
School staff who want to monitor vandalism from this IP address can subscribe to a web feed of this page in either RSS or Atom format.
Note if blocking select "anonymous only" and allow account creation. This avoids/reduces collateral damage.

[edit] Regarding your edit to Galatasaray S.K.:

Your recent edit to Galatasaray S.K. (diff) was reverted by automated bot. You have been identified as using a shared IP address to edit a page that experiences malicious edits by users that continue to edit via shared IP ranges or open proxies. Since these ranges are too large (collateral damage) to be blocked and user's IP addresses are not visible, edits to this page by logged-out editors of server or shared IP ranges and new users are reverted. The changes can be reviewed and restored by established users. // VoABot II 09:26, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

You have been temporarily blocked from editing Wikipedia as a result of your disruptive edits. You are free to make constructive edits after the block has expired, but please note that vandalism (including page blanking or addition of random text), spam, deliberate misinformation, privacy violations, personal attacks; and repeated, blatant violations of our polices concerning neutral point of view and biographies of living persons will not be tolerated. utcursch | talk 13:51, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Unfair Block

I have never vandalised Wikipedia and I havn't edited it for quite a long time. Today I decided to do something on it (nothing wrong), to find that someone called Utcursch had blocked me. I don't know why he did this. Maybe he is being silly and just going through account to block them, so now can please somebody unblock me. Please! I didn't do anything wrong.  :( This is the first time I have been on Wikipedia on this computer, so how could I have done anything wrong. So please help me.

Can someone explain the situation to the person above - who is unfamiliar with the system.

This IP address is used by the London Borough of Ealing public access computers - could this be added to the top of the page. Jackiespeel (talk) 16:48, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
