[edit] Lancaster University

Do you have a source for your recent edits to this article? I've never heard of the 'missing' colleges in my time as a student here, and can't find anything in the History of Lancaster University pages on the uni website. Darksun 22:32, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

I've replied to this on the sites discussion page. Basically only personal knowledge having seen a large wall-mounted map in University House at least twice (once during a Student Union Occupation), and also from personal discussions back in the 1970's with (then) long-serving staff members who were aware of the plans. I somehow suspect that the map no longer exists, as it would hardly be relevant now as the Hazelrigg site has been sold, and the site of the proposed southern colleges built on. Something else to note was that the original Pendle and Grizedale Colleges were originally intended just to be one college:Pendle. Grizedale would have been the next to be built. In the event it wasn't, but the organisational structure for Pendle and Grizedale were already in place so it was redesigned into two smaller colleges. Thats why the two colleges shared one Bursar and set of Admin staff.81.86.230.16 08:31, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, one or more of the external links you added to the page MS Nindawayma do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Triwbe (talk) 20:02, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

If this is a shared IP address, and you didn't make any unconstructive edits, consider creating an account for yourself so you can avoid further irrelevant warnings.
P.S. I am sure the addition of link to purchase the book was well ment. The rest of your edits appear to be very good work. It is just that Wikipedia has to be careful not to be seen promoting products, publications or services. Please continue the good work. Regards Triwbe (talk) 20:07, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

I understand. The only problem I fealt was the slightly promotional tone of stocks are limited. The rest is fine but be careful of the external links policies. Why not have a look at Wikipedia:Citation templates ? You can leave in the publisher, the link, the ISBN etc. Triwbe (talk) 20:21, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
OK Thats now done is a less commercial-looking way81.86.230.16 (talk) 20:50, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Links

Hi, I noticed in your edits to MS Nindawayma you've used external links for linking within Wikipedia. It's preferred (and is much simpler) to use internal links. For internal links use [[MS Nindawayma]] (for example) rather than [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MS_Nindawayma MS Nindawayma]. The main difference is that the internal links use two [[ and ]] characters and you simply use the title of the page. Have a read of Help:Links for the full guide. This isn't a telling off, just a tip to make editing easier. It also makes the links work consistently when browsing Wikipedia at a mirror site (many other sites copy Wikipedia's content) or from the secure version of Wikipedia (which has a different URL, you see). • Anakin (contribscomplaints) 02:10, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for that - I'd noticed the difference, but at the same time found too many elseewhere that simply don't work in they way they should. I may be wrong, but I've a feel that the way you suggest is not as bullet-proof as it should be. Anyway, noted, thanks. And please note the message I've just put on your page was done before I read yours - so don't get confused 81.86.230.16 (talk) 02:17, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

Well, internal wikilinks should be bullet-proof, more so than external links. For example, they are required for tools like what links here and it means that the links will still work when a CD version of Wikipedia is produced, or the URL changes in the future, or the article is viewed from Answers.com, for example. The change from bold to italic text by the way, just seemed to be the better style, more consistent with the way names are used elsewhere in Wikipedia. • Anakin (contribscomplaints) 02:26, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on MS Nindawayma. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. If necessary, pursue dispute resolution. Flibirigit (talk) 00:54, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

Thats nice. He creates an edit war with me and then threatens to ban me? Quis custodiet ipsos custodes? How do you get someone removed as an admin? 81.86.230.16 (talk) 01:26, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
