[edit] An Automated Message from HagermanBot
Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! HagermanBot 19:50, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Phylogenetics versus Linnaeus
For the record, there is an unfortunate clash between phylogenetic nomenclature, which doesn't use ranks, and the old Linnaean hierarchy, which has resulted in such problems as the old Class Aves being within the old Class Reptilia. For better or worse, Wiki has elected to use Linnaean ranks, which leads in part to the disconnect you mentioned. It's just that at the point where Aves is defined, the previous history is ignored and started back over with Class Aves in order for the Linnaean ranks to work. Thus, it is indeed inaccurate, but has been agreed upon as a compromise since Linnaean ranks are still so familiar to the public at large. Dromaeosaurids as birds and Shenzhouraptor as a dromaeosaurid are entirely different issues, and have very little support among researchers. J. Spencer 14:31, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
