Talk:786 (number)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Well, it's still non-notable as a number -- that's one notable property as a number (sphenic, and being in a not-particularly-notable number sequence are not notable), no notable properties in Astronomy, and one interesting property in islam, which probably should be a separate article pointed to by the 700 article. (In fact, it is as Basmala#Numerology.) But the article is still going to stay, anyway, so I won't bother with it, other than fixing the mathematical category. Arthur Rubin

I have removed the statement which says that 786 is also the same no. of steps in the tallest church in the world. The correct number of steps is 768. - Anon.
[edit] Where clean up is needed
The religion section looks like the people editing it have not availed themselves to Wikipedia's formatting capabilities, or have done so in a way that doesn't look all that neat. But since I know very little about Islam, I don't want to inadvertently make make a major faux pas. Also, the section about the area code still doesn't have a citation for the bit about 786 spelling SUN. I think it's just a coincidence. PrimeFan 21:23, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
- There is a better (or at least more coherent) discussion about the Islamic significance of 786 in the relevant section of article Basmala (which was originally moved to that article from here). AnonMoos 00:33, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Area code 786 for SUN
I don't dispute that 786 spells "SUN" on the standard telephone keypad. What I am disputing is that that's why the telephone company chose the number. Surely the telephone company would have included this tidbit in their press release when the area code was inaugurated? Anton Mravcek 22:14, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
