[edit] Regarding edits to Lothian Buses
Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia, 77.97.86.12! However, your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove spam from Wikipedia. If you were trying to insert a good link, please accept my creator's apologies, but note that the link you added, matching rule photobucket\.com, is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. Please read Wikipedia's external links guidelines for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! AntiSpamBot 15:31, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
It's presumably objecting to the fact they are images and not web pages?
- The bot is programmed with an extensive blacklist of URLS, unfortunately it doesn't distinguish between blacklisted spam URLS, and blacklisted domains like imageshack and photobucket, which are far more benign than real spam links. --VectorPotentialTalk 15:53, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
This is your last warning. The next time you insert a spam link, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. AntiSpamBot 16:02, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
ARGGHHH! so basically photobucket can't be used at all?
- Correct. No photobucket, and no imageshack. If you want to upload an image to wikipedia you'll have to register an account, and use the built in image upload utility--VectorPotentialTalk 16:08, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
They're not my images to upload though. I only want to cite them as references. I've opened a discussion on the article talk page anyway. 77.97.86.12 16:13, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
- I think the problem you're going to run into, is that images generally can't be used as primary sources, too easy to modify or fake. Now if you could find a news article mentioned the information you want to convey with the image, you could cite that as a source. --VectorPotentialTalk 16:15, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
Is that an official policy? 77.97.86.12 16:40, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
- If not policy, I would suspect that it's at least a guideline, though I can't seem to find a specific reference to it.--VectorPotentialTalk 16:45, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

- Generally, linking an image itself falls under WP:EL, from my understanding. It's preferred that any images be freely usable pictures that are uploaded to Wikipedia or the Wikimedia Commons. They can be used as sources (images of a headstone or monument plaque, for example), but are generally not considered as reliable as text-based sources. -- Kesh 17:21, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Tim Russ rewrite
Thank you for contributing and in general I'm pleased with the work. However there is a but. The article's subject is a living person and subject to the Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons policy which has stringent Wikipedia:Citing sources requirements. This article cites no sources whatsoever. Without sources anything questioned is subject to IMMEDIATE removal. I've reorganized the article as a biorgraphy. When time permits please cite your sources within the article using {{cite web}} or {{cite news}} as appropriate. Thanks again. – Conrad T. Pino 17:29, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
- I added no information, I just reorganised what was there. I can't see anything in the article that is remotely contentious, or not verifiable in the external links77.97.86.12 18:06, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

- Thanks for the clarification and apologize for any presumption. I agree in most cases the general tag is not helpful and will remove it. I fancy the material and wish to see it preserved. I was motivated by haven seen good material lost for the lack of sourcing. My presumption was a belief you'd contributed new material from new sources. I'm inclined to leave the biography structure in place to encourage contributions but I'll respect your edit if you remove them. Thank you. – Conrad T. Pino 19:51, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Thanks
Thanks for your edit to Borg (Star Trek). It will be great if you create an account though. :-D --BorgQueen 00:18, 16 November 2007 (UTC)
