[edit] Balkans
Rather than continually making this edit again and again and having it reverted, could you discuss the change on the talk page and get agreement there first? Cordless Larry (talk) 18:21, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
- That has been done. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.16.240.171 (talk • contribs) 23:03, 8 June 2008 (UTC))

- It's been discussed and no consensus has been reached for the changes you're making. Cordless Larry (talk) 22:08, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

- Well, exactly why I am putting it to this version. Kosovo is not recognised by 50%+ countries nor by the UN, where as a member of UN. Croatia is clearly debatably completely a Balkan country as its on the crossover, the older Britannica shows how previously they labled it south-easternest country of Central Europe; as well as, Central Europe has recognised Croatia being sometimes in Central Europe. Just the side that Croatia and Slovenia are highly debated in our discussion unlike the next nation, Bosnia and Herzegovina which receives no complaints, reflects that not everyone considers the two Balkan. The two are not thrown out, just shown that not always are they seen as Balkan. Map reflects these conclusions. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.16.240.171 (talk • contribs) 00:50, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

- OK, to start with, none of the reverts have changed the text about Kosovo's status, merely it's position in the list. My main concern was with Croatia and, consequently, the map. You say that "Central Europe has recognised Croatia being sometimes in Central Europe". What does that mean exactly? Who speaks for Central Europe? Where is your source? The current Britannica has Croatia in the Balkans, as does Encarta. You need to provide sources for your claim that Croatia isn't generally considered to be part of the Balkans. I realise that some people don't consider it to be, but the wording is "commonly", whereas the list you're including it in is countries "sometimes" included in the Balkans. I'd say that Croatia falls into the former. Cordless Larry (talk) 00:13, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Central_Europe As far as current or old versions, new version does not mean that the old were wrong. Tomorrow Britannica might change the region again. What is important in this shift is that it is therefore sometimes and not always considered Balkan. As far as current, there are links to European Bank for Reconstruction and Development under "Western Balkans" where examples are drawn showing the definition not include Croatia. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.16.240.171 (talk • contribs) 02:35, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

- I'm not disputing that Croatia is sometimes not included in the Balkans. However, it commonly is and therefore belongs in the first section. Cordless Larry (talk) 08:14, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

- Well, I think what is commonly for you is some for others. Seeing that the topic was hardly desputed, other parts of Wikipedia admit its notion of Central European location, Balkans is a some not commonly. The more recent history does not always put Croatia on Balkans but as a bridge to the Balkans, which both EU and Croatia advertise. Historically Ilyrian provinces and Austria-Hungary annexed Slovenia and Croatia as the last parts of Central Europe, before Austria's attempt to enter the Balkans. Commonly therefore enters a historical space, and in that space Slovenia and Croatia have definatly not been related to the region until 1918. I agree that the definition needs to be more contemporary, but even today when politically the situation is not clear. [1] Not to mention being part of a region is defined through also Culture, and Music, which in Croatia and Slovenia are undoubtedly Central European and Mediterranean. - You're right that this boils down to me thinking that Croatia is commonly included in the Balkans and you arguing that it is only sometimes included, but Wikipedia works by consensus. You should make your case at Talk:Balkans and if you achieve consensus, then you can change the page. Otherwise your edits are going to continue being reverted. You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Balkans. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. If necessary, pursue dispute resolution. Cordless Larry (talk) 17:43, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
