[edit] January 2008
Hi, I too have spoken with quite a few trans people who are quite content at various stages of transition and although a minority, some do indeed want to stay at where they are and not fully transition to the traditional male or female aspects. Benjiboi 11:54, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
Okay, if you are content at various stages, you are a transgender and not a transsexual. Transsexuals have to have complete transition and surgery, transgenders are at any stage. TSs are gender conformists; they have a birth defect and want to fix it. TGs, on the other hand are gender variant and can be content at any stage. Too many think TGs and TSs are one in the same. ALL TSs by very definition want surgery. Anyone who doesn't want it is a transgender - if they say they are a TS, they are lying. So no offense or anything. I just hate seeing misinformation. The word transsexual literally means to change from one physical sex to the other. That implies complete transition and surgery. Transgender refers to everyone else. So please do not confuse TSs with TGs. There is no such thing as a TS who doesn't want/need surgery and transition, but plenty of TGs like that. TSs are mainstream persons with a physical birth defect (genitals that don't match the mind that have to be fixed), TGs are a type of LGBT/queer. --75.177.39.22 (talk) 20:57, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
- We'll have to agree to disagree. Just as you stated "implies complete transition and surgery" but we would have to have a source that states that implicitly and then reconcile it with sources that disagree. You might also have to reconcile that even if someone does want to transition they may not be able to for any number of reasons. Benjiboi 21:26, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
