You don't have to be an expert to fix something, friend! :-) Wikipedia is the encyclopaedia that anyone can edit. Just press "edit this page" on almost any article and you're there :-) Discussion/talk pages are for when an editor would like to raise an issue... you don't really need to read absolutely everything... you don't even have to read anything at all. If you'd like me to, I can raise the issue on the Zinc talk page and we'll see who responds, ja? No one takes responsibility for anything, we're a community and we edit as a community :-) That Zinc page has had hundreds of contributors, if not thousands... Many people might comment on it who've never been on the page ever before! I hope this clears some things up for you. I'll post it on your talk page too just in case you miss it. :-) - Have you ever considered creating an account? It would make communicating and editing so much easier :-) ScarianCall me Pat 22:55, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

Thanks - the edit this page section is not really user friendly in my inexperienced opinion => I am actually at the pump now...one of the things I am asking about is just that => when you have hundreds of contributors how do people choose who responds? what happens if I make a suggestion and one contributor things it an awful idea and another acts upon it? who is the arbiter of the design, style, content etc of any given page?
- Hi buddy, the great thing about Wikipedia is you can edit absolutely anything and everything... Wikipedia:Introduction would be a great way to find out more about Wikipedia, far more than I could ever tell you!
- To answer your questions: 1) How do people choose who responds? - Anyone can respond. Anyone can write anything, anytime they want. Someone asks a question about anything, anyone can respond.
- 2) If you make a suggestion people won't automatically say: "That's awful" - we have policies at Wikipedia that protect contributors (No personal attacks and civility are two important ones). There is also another policy that determines how suggestions are accepted/refused. At Wikipedia we have something called consensus, I'm sure you've heard of it. Basically, each editor states their view on the suggest/topic/whatever and explains why they feel that way. That's how things work around here... No one is going to automatically destroy your suggestion, we all, usually, work together :-)
- 3) Not one person specifically determines how anything works. The manual of style gives a general guide on how things should look/be like in terms of layout etc. (By the way, there are a lot of Wikipedia policies. You don't need to read them all but it's a good idea to have a rough idea of what they are)
- I hope my answers have been satisfactory. If you have any more questions please do not hesitate to contact me. Have you thought about creating an account yet? Take care buddy (By the way, remember my account, User:Scarian, if you have a dynamic I.P. address and as your I.P. will change. If you remember me you can always come to me if you need anything :-)! This is the discussion page for an anonymous user, identified by the user's numerical IP address. Some IP addresses change periodically, and may be shared by several users. If you are an anonymous user, you may create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other anonymous users. Registering also hides your IP address.
