Welcome

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages you might like to see:

You are welcome to continue editing articles without logging in, but you may wish to create an account. Doing so is free, requires no personal information, and provides several benefits. If you edit without a username, your IP address (74.70.192.97) is used to identify you instead.

In any case, I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your comments on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your IP address (or username if you're logged in) and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question and then place {{helpme}} before the question on this page. Again, welcome! [edit] Your edit to Paul

Was that a joke edit you made? If so, please don't do that. Thank you Paul20070 (talk) 17:14, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

I'm actually from the UK so have never heard of this, but if you say it wasn't a joke edit and buoys are nicknamed pauls in upstate New York, then I'll take your word for it. I hope you'll accept my profound apologies, but that you'll also understand my caution. People from ananymous IP addresses such as yourself often add questionable information to articles, and it's sometimes difficult to separate fact from fiction.
If you want to add the information back into the article, then please feel free to do so, but you might want to include some supporting references.
Could I also suggest you create a user account. It's free, quick and easy to do, and there are lots of benefits. I think editors also tend to be less sceptical of contribution from registered users.
My apologies once again. Good luck and happy editing.
Cheers Paul20070 (talk) 00:06, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, adding content without citing a reliable source, as you did to Buoy, is not consistent with our policy of verifiability. This is especially important when dealing with biographies of living people, but applies to all Wikipedia articles. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. If you are already familiar with Wikipedia:Citing sources please take this opportunity to add your original reference to the article. Thank you. Jauerback (talk) 17:14, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

Please do not add unsourced or original content, as you did to Buoy. Doing so violates Wikipedia's verifiability policy. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. --Jauerback (talk) 00:37, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

It may be true, it needs a verifiable source to remain. Please see the links above to see how to cite a source. Jauerback (talk) 11:53, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
