[edit] Jeff bezos

From Wikipedia article:

[edit] Early life

Jeff Bezos was born in New Mexico. His mother's ancestors were early settlers in Texas, and over the generations had acquired a 25,000 acre (101 km² or 39 miles²) ranch in Cotulla. Bezos's maternal grandfather was a regional director of the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission in Albuquerque. He retired early to the ranch, where Bezos spent most summers of his youth, working with his grandfather at the enormously varied tasks essential to the operation. At an early age, he displayed a striking mechanical aptitude. Even as a toddler, he asserted himself by dismantling his crib with a screwdriver[1].

Bezos was born when his mother, Jackie Bezos, was still in her teens. Her marriage to his father lasted little more than a year. She remarried when Bezos was five. Bezos's stepfather, Miguel Bezos, was born in Cuba, he migrated to the United States alone at age 15 and worked his way through the University of Albuquerque. When he married Bezos's mother, the family moved to Houston, Texas, and Miguel Bezos became an engineer for Exxon. Bezos attended River Oaks Elementary in Houston from the 4th to 6th grades.

HE IS NOT CUBAN! Comprende? Adoption doe snot make one Cuban or any nationality.--XLR8TION 21:59, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

Excuse me, but who are you to decide what he is and isn't for him? Comprende? He adopted his father's name, the name of the man who raised him as his own name, someones ethnicity is based on more then just biology. Why don't you stick to editing the pages of those chock-full of talent fellow Puerto Ricans of yours and leave the Cuban pages to the Cubans. You seem so obsessed with all this, it's funny really. 74.225.36.136 22:03, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

You can not become Cuban by adoption. THAT IS INSANE! What is next, becoming Cuban via sexual intercourse with a one night stand? LOL Ignorance runs deep in your blood I can tell. --XLR8TION 03:02, 7 June 2007 (UTC)

LOL. Thank God that's not possible. If you could become Puerto Rican through a one night stand there would be billions of you people. lol. Isn't there a list of Puerto Ricans somewhere on this site for you to update ... oh, yeah ... Puerto Ricans really haven't done anything worthwhile so you stick to the Cubans. Understandable. 74.225.36.136 04:15, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

Well if you were Puerto Rican you would have talent, sex appeal, and possibly a longer list of notables. No need to be envious as I do not envy your writing, research and academic skills as you clearly demonstrate on this site with your poor English usage, grammar, and feeble brain. --XLR8TION 01:13, 9 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fantasia

Following site guidelines, rumors are not considered legit. In the citation cited for Fantasia's so called Afro-Cuban ancestry, she says:
"Family rumor has it that my father's family has Cuban lineage, which would explain my last name"
Family rumor, nor any form of rumor is valid and concise information for this or any article. The information has been removed. Wikipedia does not count on rumours but solid evidence. --XLR8TION 01:59, 25 May 2007 (UTC)

SHE IS NOT CUBAN! Comprende?

Again, I'm sorry that you seem so pre-occupied with discounting people's Cuban ethnicity. But it's not really up to you to decide someone's ethnicity. 74.225.36.136 22:14, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

You apparently are ignorant. Also why don't you become a registered user? Have something to hide? The page has been reverted and has been referred two site administrators for action. --XLR8TION 03:01, 7 June 2007 (UTC)

LOL. referred two site administrators. Your spelling is atrocious. And then you go calling me ignorant. That's really funny. I'd be shocked, but you're Puerto Rican --- so it's expected. 74.225.36.136 04:12, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Let's stop the nonsense

As an administrator, I have taken a look at the controversy between both Users, XLR8TION and 74.225.36.136 in regard to the Fantasia and Jeff Bezos case. Let me remind all parties involved that there is no need for personal attacks. This is stricly forbidden in accordance to Wikipedia policy which requires civility among users.

To start off, I must remind those involved that "No One" I mean absolutely no one owns the articles in Wikipedia and therefore all articles are open to all editors. To tell a user to "Stick to editing the pages of those chock full of talent Puerto Ricans of yours and to leave the Cuban pages to Cubans" is not only disrespectful and racist, but is also against policy.

Wikipedia policy requires that all of the information added to an article be accompanied by a "Verfiable Reliable source" or otherwise said entery will be deleted. In the case of Bezos I ask: 1. Was he born in Cuba? 2.Was he a Cuban citizen? 3.Did he have Cuban Ancesters? Adoption of a surname does not make you a citizen of the surnames origin nor does it make you a descendent of the person who adopted you. Unless a verifiable reliable source is provided which states the contrery, then it would be false to assume that one is of a certain nationality just because he or she was adopted.

In the case of Fantasia, rumors are baseless. This is an encyclopedia and the policy of a verifiable source also applies. Now, it can be stated in her article what she said about the rumors as long as it is sourced, but it cannot be automatically assumed that she "is" of Cuban descent when she herself is not sure.

With this said, I hope that this puts an end to the discussion and the constent reverting. I am sure that you all are well intended contributors, but policy is policy. Tony the Marine 04:13, 7 June 2007 (UTC)

I find it funny that I'm the one called out with the personal attacks when this clown starts it with his snarkly little comprende comments, which is about the only thing he knows how to spell correctly. lol. 74.225.36.136 04:17, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
  • To call a user clown is considered a personal attack and the use of the term comprende is aggressive, so let's put end to that right now. User:74.225.36.136, the last entery that you made to Fantasia Barrino's article is proper and sourced. As for User:WhatHaveYou342, adding unsourced information is not allowed and if continued will be considered as bad faith vandalism which may result in an edit blocking. Tony the Marine 07:51, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
    • So what would calling another user "ignorant" constitute as then? Moderately aggresive? 74.225.36.136 22:56, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
  • Only trying to insult others when they have tried in good faith to demonstrate that your edits and unconstructive will only validate more reasons why you eventually will be blocked. Stop and look at reality! I can say that I am a descendant of the last Dauphin of pre-Revolutionary France because there is a rumor floating in my family that I am. Based on rumor, it does not give me the right for me to be listed with members of European royal households nor leaders of France because rumors are baseless and until can be proven, continue to remain rumors. Oprah recently said she felt connected with the Zulus of South Africa and she believed she was Zulu in ancestry. It was a self-created false reality (a form of a rumor, since it was leaked to the press). She did a DNA test which are widely avaliable now to determine one's ancestral background based, and found out her ancestors were originally from West Africa (Gabon, Angola, etc.) Hence, her claim that she was Zulu was disvalidated. Rumors are not valid info and should NOT be added to this website. Please look at reason here for one more unconstructive edit only shows that you are reluctant to adhering to the site's policies and guidelines. --XLR8TION 10:48, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
    • You have never tried to resolve anything in good faith. From the start you have been hostile and abrasive labeling edits as vandalism with no charges of such. You obviously have a history of playing dirty with other people, all one has to do is look at your talk page and all the warnings you've received. But I digress, I'm done with you, you have proven with your rambling, incoherent, poorly worded little tirades that you're just immature. If you have issues with my edits, contact a mediator. Please refrain from posting on my talk page. 74.225.36.136 22:56, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

XLR8TION has been asked to refrain from posting in my talk page three times. He refuses to listen. I will ask him again to refrain from posting in my talk page.

  • I have asked for the personal attacks to "STOP". User:74.225.36.136, You have taken the personal attacks to another level by offending Puerto Ricans in general. The following comments are "racist" and will not be toleratd in Wikipedia:

1.

"Why don't you stick to editing the pages of those chock-full of talent fellow Puerto Ricans of yours and leave the Cuban pages to the Cuba"

2.

"If you could become Puerto Rican through a one night stand there would be billions of you people. lol. Isn't there a list of Puerto Ricans somewhere on this site for you to update ... oh, yeah ... Puerto Ricans really haven't done anything worthwhile so you stick to the Cubans. Understandable."

3.

"Your spelling is atrocious. And then you go calling me ignorant. That's really funny. I'd be shocked, but you're Puerto Rican --- so it's expected."

One more childish anti-Puerto Rican outburst and you will be banned from editing. Tony the Marine 02:56, 9 June 2007 (UTC)

Regardless if you are the victim or the aggressor, we don't tolerate that kind of crap on wikipedia, no one should have to read racist drivel like that, it isn't why people come here. If I see one more comment or edit summary of similar quality you will be blocked from this site with no further warning. SGGH speak! 15:00, 9 June 2007 (UTC)

I agree with the above suggestions. When you're confronted by other editors, you have to remain civil and in good faith. Your comments go against the entire Wikipedia philosophy, not to mention a host of policies and guidelines. You can continue to edit, as long as you remain civil with other editors (even if they are not). If you do not do so, then a block is almost certain. Maybe even a ban. - Mtmelendez (Talk|UB|Home) 00:32, 10 June 2007 (UTC)

If you really are Puerto Rican you have a funny way of showing it with all your racist comments. You are really stepping close to the line as far as I am concerned. Why don't you just leave it and go and edit helpfully. SGGH speak! 08:53, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock request while you are blocked.

Request reason: "User:AntonioMartin blocked me for making "racist remarks" and taunting Puerto Ricans? What? A simple look at my contributions log can see that only a few pages have even been edited in the last couple days, one which included my own talkpage in which I added a Puerto Rican infobox. User:AntonioMartin's father User:Marine 69-71 objected to that saying I was making "taunting remarks against Puerto Ricans". What? How? Where did I make taunting remarks? I added an infobox to my own talk page, I didn't go to their talk page and make remarks or instigate things by telling them to come my talk page and see what I did. So in essence, User:AntonioMartin decided it was okay to block a user for adding an infobox to their talk page, an infobox that other users have on their userpages as well? This seems incredibly suspect to me and an abuse of powers."

Request reason: "Since Irishguy doesn't seem to want to respond, I hope another neutral Admin can look at this case. In response to the three links above, I was warned for those instances and have admited that my behavior in making those comments was childish[2] and the result of an argument with another user. I was warned on my talk page, multiple times and have since let the issue cool off. But since I was first warned I have done nothing to "harrass" any users. I simply added a userbox to my own talk page. Am I not allowed to do that? The comments of rude behavior you provided were made on June 8, why am I being blocked on June 13, after I was warned and complied with the warnings? All I did was add a userbox that a group of closely-knit administrators felt offended them? (User:Dark Dragon Flame called me an "asshole"[3] on admnistrator User:Marine 69-71's talk page ... why doesn't that justify a block?) The fact of the matter is: they don't know me, they don't know what my intentions were; they're just making assumptions. Under this rationale User:AntonioMartin can block me two weeks from now for any random edit and point to the "racist remarks" I made on June 8 as justification? That really doesn't make sense to me."
