[edit] South Asian Americans

You're more than welcome to create an article on South Asian Americans and I'd love to contribute, but the oxford dictionary makes clear that in North American mainstream useage, Asian refers to East Asians. I understand that lobbying for minority status by south asians got them classified as asian for certain government purposes, but this is not reflected in common useage and thus should not be given undue weight in the article as per wikipedia policy. [edit] Justification for removing (need to remove) the image on North India page

Dear user: I do not understand the logic in the image, portraying darker region as North-Indian region. I can certainly understand, with some exceptions, the meaning that is attached to light green region on the map as the North-Indian influencing region. The flaw in the image is that the darker region does not comply with definition of the Northern India. Let's say, as per the image, Bihar does not belong to the North of India then it implies that there is relatively less Indian territory on the South of Bihar than to the north of Bihar, which is outrightly false, as entire peninsular India is on the South of Bihar and as per the new developments, Jarkhand, and also with our known knowledge, Tripura, Mizoram etc are to the South of Bihar. --yny 18:36, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Amphibious assault ship

Please be aware that the general article on amphibious ships has been moved to Amphibious warfare ship. The Amphibious assault ship page now covers only the very-large ships primarily designed to operate helicopters and V/STOL aircraft in an assault role, such as LHAs, LHDs, and LPHs. This does not now include ships types such as LPDs, LSTs, and the Magar class. As such, please do not re-add the INS Jalashwa, Shardul class, or Magar class ships to this page. They should already be listed at List of amphibious warfare ships, though the section does need improvments such as wiki-links. Feel free to ask if you have any questions, or if you disagree with the re-focusing of the Amphibious assault ship page, but please don't re-add the Indian ships back unless we reach an agreement or compromise. Thanks. - BillCJ (talk) 19:52, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
