Note that Wikipedia is not a soapbox. Your efforts in improving Wikipedia are appreciated. However, talk pages are only for discussion about the main article, not for general chat. Please do not use talk pages for general discussion, as you did on the Egypt page. Thank you.

[edit] Race of Ancient Egyptians
Nowhere, nowhere at all on wikipeida, is it appropriat to argue or discuss a topic itself exept inasmuch as that helps indicate what we should do with specific pages. Wikipedia is not a forum. The kind of things you are stating on Akhenaten's talk page assume two things. 1, that editors on wikipedia pages need to find scholarly evidence against an unscholarly theory if they want to reject it, and 2, that your layperson opinion matters in deciding what goes in wikipedia. No Original Research and Reliable Source rules indicate that neither assumption is true. I am not interested in getting into a conflict with you, only informing you that you may not continue to use wikipedia as a soapbox. We do not approve of this kind of behavior here. Many of your comments on the talk page of the article above are clearly irrelevant to the content of the article itself. As such, they have no real place on the talk page of that article, which is supposed to be used for the purpose of discussing the article itself. Please observe wikipedia guidelines in this regard. Thank you. John Carter 15:23, 17 August 2007 (UTC)
- I strongly urge you to read this page: WP:NPA. Some of your recent comments can be seen as reasonably being violations of this policy, and such violations can potentially have serious consequences. John Carter 15:52, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
- Tom, please read WP:DE before attempting another such edit. Continuation of such behavior can be enough for at least a short block to an IP address. John Carter 17:19, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

Hi, there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot 21:46, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
