[edit] Welcome

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

Here are some other hints and tips:

  • I would recommend that you get a username. You don't have to log in to read or edit articles on Wikipedia, but creating an account is quick, free and non-intrusive, requires no personal information, and there are many benefits of having a username. (If you edit without a username, your IP address is used to identify you instead.)
  • When using talk pages, please sign your name at the end of your messages by typing four tildes (~~~~). This will automatically produce your username (or IP address) and the date.

If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question, ask me on my Talk page, or type {{helpme}} on this talk page and a user will help you as soon as possible. I will answer your questions as far as I can. Again, welcome!

Thank you again for contributing to Wikipedia. I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian. Paul Cyr 04:14, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] I'm not new here

I'm actually a regular user of Wikipedia, but recently I switched ISPs and had my IP changed.

And nothing personal, but Wikipedia's welcome message is really condescending. I know that you use it when you tack on a "Don't vandalize" message at the end.

There are multiple welcoming messages, yes some do have warnings, but this one is purely a welcome message. If you think it's condescending, then why not point that out on the template talk page and suggest a solution? Paul Cyr 04:47, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] No big deal

I really don't take it that seriously, I'm just frustrated at something else right now. Disregard anything I say. Sorry if I came off like an obnoxious jerk, the internet brings out the worst in me.

Don't worry about it. :) Paul Cyr 23:23, 31 December 2006 (UTC)
