[edit] Celtic Frost
You must read better near heavy metal, it's written "see below". Their genre is topic of debate and not all critics consider the band black metal or death metal. --Born Again 83 (talk) 16:14, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Dude, relax
I agree that Slipknot is not real metal, they're nu metal which is not metal at all. It's rap and hard rock being mixed. But you're wrong about the other thing. Celtic Frost IS heavy metal. You can get more specific than that, but they are still heavy metal. "Heavy metal" is just a general term. Iron Maiden is heavy metal but they're not just heavy metal, either. If you wanted to get specific about it they are classic metal with the beginngings of speed and power metal in their music, or as some would describe it, NWoBHM (New Wave of British Heavy Metal). The reason we put "heavy metal" for Celtic Frost's genre is because people keep arguing about it and they have changed their style over time. They were once black/ thrash but they haven't played that style in a long time. Now they're just gay ass gothic metal. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 23:55, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
Goth metal? Are you fucking kidding me? Oh yeah because Monotheist sounds so much like Lacuna Coils COmalies or MoonSpells Darkness and Hope. Get real. It's black thrash doom metal if anything.
Wikipedia isn't based on personal opinions, it is based on suorces. Those in group page have different views among themselves, so it's better to leave everything as it is. Do you understand, now? --Born Again 83 (talk) 10:57, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

WP:CIVIL anyone? Insulting me won't get you anywhere, as it would seem people agree that you are the one who is wrong, not me. I know my subgenres very well, but apparently you don't. Also, Moonspell and Lacuna Coil aren't the only gothic metal bands. Those guys are weak sounding but gothic metal was once pretty heavy, like Paradise Lost. Monotheist is almost purely gothic/ doom metal, there are almost no traces of real thrash or black metal evident. Cheers! (And heavy metal is still just a general term that applies to all "metal" bands, although I do think it would be better to put "extreme metal" (another general term but a little more specific than "heavy metal") as Celtic Frost's genre as they have been very experimental and changed a lot but always played extreme metal. - Also you mentioned on another talk page that many black metal bands cite Celtic Frost as an influence. Just because a band influenced a genre doesn't mean they are a part of that genre. Slayer was influential to death metal, a genre they never played. But I agree that Celtic Frost was black metal (well black thrash anyways) and a part of the 1st Wave. That doesn't change the fact that they've strayed from their roots and are NOT black metal anymore. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 21:42, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
