Please do not add commercial links (or links to your own private websites) to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or a mere collection of external links. You are, however, encouraged to add content instead of links to the encyclopedia. See the welcome page to learn more. Thanks. -- Linkspamremover 22:18, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
Why are you deleting my link Linkspamremover? You've messaged me that I should add content instead of linking to my personal page. My personal page isn't even a commerical website, unlike some of the other links on this page like Kaneesha.com or massala.com or sareeonline.com. How come you let those be, and delete mine?
Dude, what about the external links on this page...in case you haven't noticed, they are ALL COMMERICIAL private websites.
- Dude, hi and thanks for trying to improve Wikipedia.
- The message I added to your talk page is kinda standardised, and doesn't always neatly fit into every situation. These template messages are used by people like me partly to save time because we are so busy chasing round after spammers and vandals. I realise you weren't advertising. I realise you were trying to help.
- However, Wikipedia is not meant to be a collection of external links, so we encourage editors to add content to the encyclopaedia instead. Judging by your edits, I could see that you were starting to do nothing more than link to your own site, and I wanted to discourage this by making you aware of the guidelines we have about inserting external links. Please read the guidelines - generally there should be a good reason to insert a link. This is an encyclopaedia and we prefer to fill it with content. Saying that, there are occasions when external links are appropriate, as the guidelines make clear.
- The link that caught my eye was the one you put in the Travel article. It was very interesting reading your own personal choice of travel locations you must visit before you die, but unfortunately I couldn't see any relevance of this link for an encyclopaedia. It seemed clear to me that you hadn't seen our guidelines on external links which is why I left you a message. Someone else removed your link in that article, and I happen to agree with them.
- Looking at your link on the Sari article, I don't see anything very objectionable about it. Equally though, I don't see any content that couldn't be put in Wikipedia. I have no strong objection to the link at this time (this link may be better), but please add content instead of links. A link like this is likely to be removed at any time for the reasons I mentioned. Thanks. -- Linkspamremover 00:19, 1 April 2006 (UTC)
Those links go straight to the informational page. Since we can't find any good non-profit sari webpages, we're leaving those. The link you keep inserting doesn't work. The only way to get to that page is by going to your home page and clicking down. If you can get your link to work, I'd be OK with leaving it, as it does seem to be good information.
However, you'd make even more friends on Wikipedia if you tried to help us, rather than just fighting to glorify yourself and your website. WP is about giving things away. Zora 23:22, 31 March 2006 (UTC)
