[edit] Fairies
Please stop adding commercial links to Wikipedia. It is considered spamming, and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising. Thanks. Nandesuka 13:30, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
I did not add commercial links in my second edit. I included a multicultural book of faerie, and an anthology of Faerie. I was about to add Neil Gaiman's faerie work when I realized you had deleted them again.
I feel this is uncalled for. You claim to be an open encyclopedia, and I happen to read ALOT of faerie lit. Furthermore you deleted the links to 'aziza' which linked to wikipedia. Is there a cultural bias here? You have an 'aziza' page. which is how I found the faerie page.
I will add again in hopes that this was an oversite, and that you are a fair admin.
Thankyou.
- Generally speaking, encyclopedia articles are about notable people, places, and things. While Neil Gaiman is surely notable, "Dazjae," whoever that is, is just as surely not. Nandesuka 03:13, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
- She is an published author, and there are alot of other authors/artists who may not be 'mainstream', but have underground offerings which are appreciated, and are of use to the world. I enjoyed the book, personally, especially because it offered a different spin.
Wikipedia is for the people and we can contribute articles and pieces of interest by right. That is what I intend to do, as the Creators of the site saw fit to create it to that purpose. We can agree to disagree but I have my right to add, as anyone else.
Also, you deleted Neil Gaiman and others when I added them, just as you deleted the information about the multicultural fae book. So I'm not truly understanding what that action was for. Either you are fair, or you are not. It sounds now like you're trying to save face. You deleted them all more than once, including the aziza information.
Now I would like to add about the Kalash, who are supposed to be pakistani fae. Will you object to that to? One sure test of a person's character is to give them power, they say.
Peace
- Indeed, one sure test of a person's character is to give them power. What you did with the power to edit was to insert links advertising your obscure myspace page. That's really a shame.
- Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. Despite appearances to the contrary, it is not an indiscriminate collection of information. I encourage you to discuss further additions on the Talk:Fairy page, so you can seek consensus for your changes. Kind regards, Nandesuka 12:40, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
You really seem quite hungry for power. Sorry, but that's how it comes off, because you've been in attack mode even after your initial complaint was remedied, by deleting anything I posted, even of those you later considered "notable". If my comment made you feel touchy, I don't know what to tell you. You've changed the whole format now. Does it even still list Holly Black? Fortunate that anyone can add to wikipedia. A contribution to faerie especially in the multicultural sense is a considerable addition, and you can keep editing over what people add. They can keep adding. You can't stop everyone when this is for the people. As for adding someone's myspace links, Erykah Badu's Myspace link link is added to her page in Wikipedia. Holly Black's site links are on her page. And so on and so forth. So where you are coming from with this, I have no idea.
It just seemes to me like you have control issues, and rather than worry about you. I will follow what Wikipedia allows, and follow their rules. You can delete if it satiates your ego, and I will continue to add, post articles about underground musicians and artists and even grassroots organizations whether I find them on Myspace, an academic library, or find them in the local paper', because it's freedom of expression, and you are not the world's authority on what's notable, sorry to say.
Too bad you bring this kind of vibe to a forum that is supposed to be open. This is just getting childish. Delete away, and I will add away, then. We both have the right according to Wikipedia. The lovers of Faerie will appreciate as much information as they can get their hands on. As a lover of Faerie, I will continue to add what I find, that other Fae appreciators can benefit from.
Regards
