[edit] American-British spelling

Regarding this edit, the general concensus is not to alter spelling in this manner unless the article is particular to one of the regions: for example, London is written in British spelling whilst New York is written using American English. The article on Same-sex marriage, being a worldwide topic, should not, therefore, be edited just to alter spelling- one of the reasons for this is they can fill the page history and prevent editors from effectively finding a major edit.

Don't forget to mark smaller edits as minor too: this also helps other editors when reviewing articles.

Thank you for taking the time to explain this to me. I did not realize that this sytlistic element had been addressed, but your explaination is a significant help. The issue makes sense now.

No problem- the main problem with Wikipedia is it has so many rules and guidelines they're hard to keep track off!
