Attention:

This host, pool-71-112-115-55.sttlwa.dsl-w.verizon.net, is registered to Verizon Communications, USA, and may be shared by multiple users. If the organization uses proxy servers or firewalls, this IP address may in fact represent many users at many physical computers.

For this reason, a message intended for one person may be received by another and a block may be shared by many. If you are editing from this address and are frustrated by irrelevant messages, you can avoid them by creating an account for yourself. In some cases, you may temporarily be unable to create an account due to efforts to fight vandalism; if so, please see here.

If you are autoblocked repeatedly, we encourage you to contact your Internet service provider or IT department and ask them to contact Wikimedia's XFF project about enabling X-Forwarded-For HTTP headers on their proxy servers so that our editing blocks will affect only the intended user. Alternatively, you can list the IP at Wikipedia:WikiProject on XFFs.

Caution should be used when blocking this IP or reverting its contributions without checking - if a block is needed, administrators should consider using a soft block with the template {{anonblock|optional comment}} as the block reason.

Note: In the event of vandalism from this address, abuse reports may be sent to your network administrator for further investigation.
IT staff who want to monitor vandalism from this IP address can subscribe to a web feed of this page in either RSS or Atom format.

[edit] re:block

My block of that IP was totally justified in that it matched a pattern of harassment directed towards an editor. In particular it sought to replace properly attributed photographs with cropped versions that do not contain proper attribution (in breach of the license under which they were first uploaded). The person who crops them asserts that they are the author, rather than correctly crediting the photo taker. As to whether a cropped version is better, that is a matter of editorial discretion to be discussed. But blanket replacement on an editors photos looks like harassment to me and will not be tolerated. WjBscribe 02:27, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

This is not an edit war. Your harassment of David will cease or you will be blocked. I also will not permit photos without correct attribution to be added to any article on Wikipedia, as doing so would contravene GFDL. WjBscribe 02:45, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

I came here to make the same point; more than one admin is now keeping an eye on this matter, and it would be wise to stop the harassment. --Mel Etitis (Talk) 12:49, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

What exactly is your relationship to 84.178.254.52? --Mel Etitis (Talk) 16:16, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
a common interest in improving wikipedia, i suppose 71.112.115.55 17:03, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Blocked

You have been warned about Wikistalking and harassing David Shankbone by two administrators, including myself. However you have continued in this behaviour. I have blocked you from editing Wikipedia for 48 hours as a result. You are welcome to continue contributing once your block expires but note that harassment is not acceptable. It might be a good idea for you to avoid David Shankbone in future. WjBscribe 12:05, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

This "DavidShankBone" has been personally attacking me for a long time. I don't know how many times he has called me a vandal, without even one diff. Even though I've asked for it. Recently he vandalized my legitimate comments echoing the words of others: [1]. and has gone out of his way, spending literally hours trying to get me blocked. Concerned admininstrators, I know what it looks like: an "IP" -- we're all evil vandals, right? ;) But I implore you to ask him for where he has seen this vandalism. I promise you, he won't present any caveat: i did revert to someone else's vandalism accidentally, proving that "ShankBone" has been attacking me for a loooong time. In any case, I'm happy to participate in dispute resolution, an RfAr suits me just fine to get this ShankBone to stop threatening to get me blocked, cause most of the time he is ignored but once in a while he comes across an admin that will do his bidding rather than follow the basic wiki dispute process. 71.112.115.55 02:00, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

This blocked user (block log | autoblocks | rangeblocks | unblock | contribs | deleted contribs) has asked to be unblocked, but an administrator has reviewed and declined this request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock request while you are blocked.

Request reason: "voting against a featured article is not harrassment. please open up an rfar so this claim can be evaluated dispassionately"

Decline reason: "After spending over 20 minutes reviewing this IP's edits and the discussion surrounding, the admin was within reason to give you a timeout. Wikipedia will still be here in two days for your rfar. — Ocatecir Talk 03:55, 2 June 2007 (UTC)"

[edit] Shankbone's vandalism

I'm sorry to read your allegation at User talk:DavidShankBone that that user has committed vandalism. Unfortunately you don't specify what you're referring to. Please return to that page and there specify just what you're referring to, of course concisely and politely. (Or if you made some kind of mistake, say so.) -- Hoary 06:10, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

Here's the vandalism, Hoary: [2] He removed my comment from the featured article discussion. Not a big deal, but he shknow better than ballot box unstuffing. 71.112.115.55 01:49, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] David, file an Arbitration Case

David, or DavidShankBone, I see you've put together a long page about an "indefinite ban" for this IP. If you have any confidence in those claims, please file an arbitration case so the evidence can be looked at by experienced wikipedia arbitrators (including your inability to provide diffs for the "vandalism" you've accused me of). That is the way dispute resolution happens at wikipedia. Your reluctance to follow dispute resolution procedures is awfully peculiar.

[edit] Request for arbitration to ban User from editing Wikipedia

I have laid out a case for this editor to be banned at the Arbitration Committee here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Requests_for_arbitration#71.112.115.55 --David Shankbone 18:22, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Blocked longterm

Warning This IP address has been blocked for a period of 8 months, due to extensive wikistalking, harassement, vandalism, and editwarring through the use of multiple IP addresses. The IPs in question have a repeated block history.

Request reason: "i dont know how a 2 day block turned into an 8 day block? at least let the arbcom go forward, shankbone has lied about me over and over again. i have NEVER vandalized wikipedia (never a diff). i have not harrassed anyone either, but that is in the eye of the beholder."

Decline reason: "Thank you for incriminating yourself in your very unblock request. In case you didn't know, the block is not 8 days, but 8 months. — Kurykh 03:26, 3 June 2007 (UTC)"
