707 Operations

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

707 Operations (similar to Steamrail Victoria) is a volunteer organization established in 1980 in Victoria. The organization was established after a committee of 6 men got together, and inspected a withdrawn (6 years) R class steam locomotive in the Newport Workshops. After close examinations of the locomotive (although it was in some form of disrepute), a proposal was put forward to VicRail for restoration and commencing started in 1981 (actual restoration). After the restoration of R707, the locomotive made a return trip to Bacchus Marsh and back.
