It is an asteroid discovered by Johann Palisa on October 3, 1910 with an estimated diameter of 13 km. It was named for Baroness Valentine Noémi von Rothschild (1886-1969) to celebrate her engagement to astronomy benefactor Baron Sigismund von Springer (1873-1927).
