[edit] Nadine Gordimer edits discussion

Dear anonymous editor, I would like to hear your views on why == Admin or vandal? ==this material needs to be included here. The way wikipedia works, you need to discuss controversial changes with other editors; not just repeatedly and without discussion insert things that have been previously removed. Please either discuss your changes or expect to see me remove them again. There needs to be a justification for including something that, as phrased, has very unsavory implications. Could you, for instance, state why you believe this incident, along with irrelevant comments about the race of certain individuals, needs to be included in an encyclopedia article on Nadine Gordimer?DianaW 23:27, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

Note: the remaining comments in this section, which are about the article's content, have been moved to Talk:Nadine Gordimer for reasons stated on that page. John Broughton | Talk 04:04, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Admin or vandal?

At Talk:Nadine Gordimer, you wrote: I see that a John Broughton has wrecked my User page. Is he an administrator, or just another common vandal?.

If you have a problem with anything I've done, I'd appreciate a posting to User talk:John Broughton, so that I am clearly notified of your concerns. Such a posting also keeps such discussions out of talk pages for articles; those should be focused on improving articles, without arguments about editor behavior (particularly about behavior that didn't even occur on that page).

And I suggest you (re)read WP:AGF and WP:NPA.

Thanks. John Broughton | Talk 14:33, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] same user as 70.23.199.239 ?

Do I take it that User:70.23.177.216 and User:70.23.199.239 are the same person? Based on description of "reversing ... for the umpteenth time" and the same language used to describe actions ... --lquilter 00:05, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] A New Me?

I just noticed that I am signing off with a different IP address. No subterfuge is involved on my part. My pc stroked out on December 5, and although I am still using the same machine, and even the same hard-drive, I am showing up as a different IP. (Truth be told, my pc has been acting in such a way that I wonder if it weren't abducted by computer engineers, and replaced by an impostor.) However, my wiki posts should allay any fears anyone may have. I am no kinder nor gentler than before, I still take my irony supplements, and if I am not the same person, I do such a bang-up impression of that person, that it really doesn't matter, anyway.

(I just retrieved the foregoing as a wiki "preview" file from my hard drive. I had posted it right after the section by User:John Broughton. Apparently, I failed to properly save the page back then.) 70.23.199.239 00:15, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
