Simple answer, the Spartans and Thespians worked together, so the Thebans, weither or not Thebans were forced or chose to stay, made sure that the Thebans don't leave, so Spartans and Thespians were intimidating the Thebans to fight with them, and almost all, if not all of Thebans died in the last stand, and according to Herodotus they made terms with Xerxes, basically they were present at the last stand, always remember to do research, average, and think your question through before starting a controversy, so their you go! LOok, i think we started off the wrong foot here, what i ment to say, and i know i sounded harsh, but i ment an intellectual controversy over the numbers, so nothing big deal, so were okay no problem here, and just so you know check out battle of thermoplyae and look at the accurate changes i did to it, like other articles so you can complain at the dumb people who change it back to the same old crap, know this, like other articles it should be Achaemenid Empire, and when i put 75,000 for the persian army i was quoting ctesias in his persica, and he said 75,000 fought out of the 800,000 total army, so it would be stupid of me to put 800,000 and i put all other info which could be found in the article itself, so it is the most accurate representation of numbers out there, thanks for reading and remember what i said Simba.--Ariobarza (talk) 06:05, 11 March 2008 (UTC)Ariobarza talk
