If you have a close connection to some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Omaha Steaks, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with,
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors,
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam);
    and you must always:
  4. avoid breaching relevant policies and guidelines, especially neutral point of view, verifiability, and autobiography.

So how do you stop getting the new notices once you've read them, other than blank it out.

And why remove a verifiably true statemnet from the most recent edit? COI or not it is still a true statement.

Hi, please leave the notice in place for a while. This will help other editors to help you. If you are connected with the company, please use the article talk page to suggest changes. That's the best way to handle things. An unaffiliated editor will look at your requests and make sure the comply with Wikipedia's content policies. Jehochman Talk 04:09, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
furthermore anyone who has an axe to grind against the company is free to do so and the company is not allowed to defend itself! How is that even remotely Neutral. Viviano et. al. has a problem. Since he relies on a four year old report as though it is current events. And the most recent edit points to a two year old article?
Place these facts on the article talk page, and if necessary, add a message at WP:COIN to say that somebody with an axe to grind is grinding it on an article about your company. We'll take care of it. If you try to do this yourself, you'll be violating WP:COI and you'll likely end up in an edit war with your critics. Jehochman Talk 04:53, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
