6 Street Southwest and 7 Street Southwest are stops in downtown Calgary on the city's C-Train light rail system.
The 6 Street Southwest stop is used by eastbound trains, and the 7 Street Southwest stop is used by westbound trains. Platforms for the station are located on the sides of 7 Avenue South. Both platforms are inside the free fare zone of the C-Train.
Opened in 1981, the station registered an average of 7,900 (6th Street platform) and 12,400 (7th Street platform) weekday boardings in 2005.[1]
In 2008, according to the Calgary Transit Website, the daily weekday ridership remains at an unchanged rate of 12,400 boardings. [2]
The 6 Street Southwest platform will close on April 7th, 2008 to allow the construction of a new platform on its current site, which can accommodate 4-car trains. An official date for the resumption of service to 6 Street Southwest has not yet been disclosed, but civic officials suggest that the 6 Street Southwest platform will be reopened sometime in spring of 2009.[3]
