[edit] Coronation Street template

Hi there. I can't comment on EastEnders as I am neither a member of that wikiproject, don't edit articles related to it and I don't watch it; how their articles are organised is no concern to me. That said, the character listing process for Coronation Street I have tried to sort out with the introduction of the recurring characters article via discussion. The current minor/recurring character listing was heavily expanded from individual articles after an AfD which was triggered by someone who didn't seem to know much about the show, yet at the time most of those characters didn't have much history to warrant their own articles. If you are able to build up the character articles you mentioned on my talk page to a reasonable extent, then I don't see why you couldn't recreate their own page, but the reason must (or at least ideally) be good enough for the article to not be pushed back through AfD again (ie: notability asserted, reasonably sized history/content and reasonably well written). Might it be best waiting until their storylines occur so there is content to work? It might be the only time when information is available, as simply recreating their pages because something is going to, but as of yet hasn't, wouldn't achieve much. I usually initiate these queries on the article talk pages so everyone who checks it has the opportunity to contribute their view :) Bungle (talkcontribs) 01:13, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

It is because the characters are listed as minor/recurring that they are not in the template. If they where in the template, they would all redirect back to the recurring characters article, and we already have a link to that on the template below all the character links. Only characters with their own article have their own link on the template, which seems logical. The template links into the character pages, so they are both related.
