Hey bud- I'm assuming from your note that you're the same guy as User:24.51.203.176. It would really help me out if you'd register with a username, but you don't have to. In regards to Marine Team 6: the article hasn't been deleted yet. I've checked the online inventory for a couple of my local Borders bookstores, and they have the book you named available. I'll swing by there on my way to school and check it out. If Marine Team 6 is in there, we'll work together to clean up that article and make it shine. If Marine Team 6 is not in there, I'm going to be pretty ticked off that you wasted my time and you're going to have to find yourself somebody else to hold your hand around here. If you're just blowing smoke, now is the time to tell me. --Fernando Rizo T/C 19:07, 2 August 2005 (UTC)
- The Agostino Von Hassell book that you pointed out earlier is a $120.00 special order at Borders, so I won't be consulting that any time soon. But you're telling me that if I stop at Borders today and look at George Forty's book that I will see a mention of Marine Team 6?
- As for the username, all you have to do is click [[here and type in whatever name you want, enter and email address and a password, and then respond the the email you get sent. Simple. If people hassle you, I'll do my best to resolve the situation, or get someone to resolve it if its over my head. It's worth it. If you register, you can add pages to your watchlist and you'll be able to see every time that they're modified and by whom. Fernando Rizo T/C 19:29, 2 August 2005 (UTC)
- I found no references to Marine Team 6 in George Forty's book. I'm not devoting any more of my time to helping you verify that article. Fernando Rizo T/C 00:06, 4 August 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Trying to work this out
Okay bud, read this carefully. Marine Team 6 either:
- does not exist, or
- exists, but is unverifiable.
You've been telling me and everybody else that it's a super secret unit. The problem with that is that it cannot be independently verified. They're not mentioned in George Forty's book. Even if they were, one source isn't good enough. A source can be wrong. Multiple sources are required for true verifiability.
Now even though I've been through this with you a couple of times, both with this IP address and when you were posting as 24.51.203.176, and even though the Marine Team 6 article was deleted due to unverifiability, you keep adding Marine Team 6 to the list of U.S. Special Operations Forces. I'm going to go remove them again.
Listen to me now: if you put Marine Team 6 back into U.S. Special Operations Forces, even though they are demonstrably unverifiable, I'm going to put up a Request for Comment about the issue. Then other editors and administrators are going to get involved, and if you persist in being obstinant, you may get blocked for a short period of time. I don't want that to happen. I think you mean well, even if you're a bit misguided sometimes. I hope you read this whole spiel and take it to heart. --Fernando Rizo T/C 17:41, 10 August 2005 (UTC)
- No sweat over the disagreement; that's often the nature of Wikipedia, for better or for worse. Next time I'm in Borders, I'll have a second look at the George Forty book. I might have missed it, you never know. Please keep on contributing, and I'll keep watching out for you. --Fernando Rizo T/C 18:37, 13 August 2005 (UTC)
You requested my help in finding sources to verify the existence Marine Team 6. I looked around a bit but was not able to find any sources online. You've mentioned that this is a secretive unit, and I think this secretive nature would preclude you from finding information about it. It may very well be a real unit, but due to its unverifiabile nature, please refrain from adding articles about it, or refering to it in other articles. Thanks. -- BMIComp (talk, HOWS MY DRIVING) 01:11, 17 August 2005 (UTC)
