Welcome

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

Here are some other hints and tips:

  • I would recommend that you get a username. You don't have to log in to read or edit articles on Wikipedia, but creating an account is quick, free and non-intrusive, requires no personal information, and there are many benefits of having a username. (If you edit without a username, your IP address is used to identify you instead.)
  • When using talk pages, please sign your name at the end of your messages by typing four tildes (~~~~). This will automatically produce your username (or IP address) and the date.

If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question, ask me on my Talk page, or type {{helpme}} on this talk page and a user will help you as soon as possible. I will answer your questions as far as I can. Again, welcome, and I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian. Orangemarlin 14:32, 7 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Speciation

Hi there. To avoid adding more commentary than I already have to Intelligent design's talkpage, an answer to your question is already provided over at speciation. My favourite demonstration is the experiment illustrated below:

The Drosophila experiment conducted by Diane Dodd (Dodd, D.M.B. (1989) Reproductive isolation as a consequence of adaptive divergence in Drosophila pseudoobscura. Evolution 43, 1308–1311).

This blocked user (block log | autoblocks | rangeblocks | unblock | contribs | deleted contribs) has asked to be unblocked, but an administrator has reviewed and declined this request. Request reason: "Hello! This is my first time ever on Wikipedia and I feel that my ip address should not be blocked. I access the site from home and blocking my ip for no reason is not a nice thing to do. Please unblock it. I have done nothing to warrant being blocked from your site."

Decline reason: "You were blocked as a sockupuppet of a banned user and you are not entitled to edit Wikipedia so we cannot unblock. -- Ѕandahl 23:01, 19 February 2008 (UTC)"

Please make any further unblock requests by using the {{unblock}} template. However, abuse of the template may result in your talk page being protected.

Request reason: "So you are keeping me blocked for something I DID NOT do.. HOW DO YOU CALL THAT FAIRNESS?! WHAT YOU ARE DOING IS NOT ONLY UNETHICAL BUT JUST OUT-RIGHT RUDE! BLOCKING SOMEONE FOR NO REASON EXCEPT TO EXERT YOUR "BIASED" CONTROL OVER ANY GIVEN POPULOUS IS CALLED INTO QUESTION! YOU PEOPLE OFFEND ME AND I WILL BE DISCUSSING THIS MATTER WITH THE WASHINGTON POST INTERNET DVISION WITH WHOM I HAVE A RELATIVE WHO WOULD LOVE TO WRITE AN ARTICLE DEPICTING YOUR OBVIOUS "BIASED" NATURE!"

Decline reason: "Threats are not tolerated here. However, if you truly have never edited here, you may send an email to unblock-en-l@lists.wikimedia.org from an email address issued by your ISP. Indicate this IP address, give the reason for your block, and state for the record that you have never edited here and would like an account. — Yamla (talk) 23:49, 19 February 2008 (UTC)"

You will also have to explain why, despite your claims that you are accessing the Internet from home, your IP address reverses to Caribou Coffee Co Inc. --Yamla (talk) 23:52, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

I sent the email before your latest update. So will respond to that here. Why the ip points there, I have no idea, possibly because I live 100 meters away and I'm using their link. Thats probably why the ip address points there.
