[edit] Welcome
Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like it here and decide to stay. For general guidelines you may want to read:
- The five pillars of Wikipedia
- Help pages
- Tutorial
- How to write a great article
- Wikipedia Manual of Style
Here are some other hints and tips:
- Please consider getting a username. You don't have to log in to read or edit articles on Wikipedia, but creating an account is quick, free and non-intrusive, requires no personal information, and there are many benefits of having a username. Without a username, your IP address is used to identify you. Since IP addresses constantly change and can be used by many diffrent users, its best to have your own user account so you can avoid being mistaken by somebody who has a bad record of vandalizing articles.
- When making an edit to an article, briefly describe your changes in the edit summary box.
- When using talk pages, please sign your name at the end of your messages by typing four tildes (~~~~). This will automatically insert your username and date on the talk page.
- If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question, visit the new contributors' help page, or type {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will help you as soon as possible.
Thanks again for contributing to Wikipedia. I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian.

[edit] Parade
Hello. You've thrice ([1] [2] [3]) replaced our article on Parade magazine with promotional material drawn at least in part from copyrighted text at parade.com. Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising. You are, however, encouraged to add appropriate content to the encyclopedia. If you feel the material in question should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. See the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. Tim Smith 02:39, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did in Trading Places. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that exist to attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam policies for further explanations of links that are considered appropriate. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. See the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. Please do not add unhelpful and unconstructive content to Wikipedia, as you did to Shortcake. Your edits appear to be vandalism and have been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Jerm 19:29, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
Please stop. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia, as you did to Shortcake, you will be blocked from editing. semper fictilis 19:31, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, the external links you added do not comply with our guidelines for external links. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. The Evil Spartan 17:25, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
This is your last warning. The next time you add linkspam to Wikipedia, as you did to Hogwarts, you will be blocked from editing. Neitherday 19:32, 28 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] This is a shared IP address
Greetings to those who are posting in regards to any vandalism caused by this IP address. As the heading states, this is a shared IP, therefore there could be any of several thousand people who made these changes. It is likely that any requests to stop these edits will go unheard as this IP address will quickly change hands.
I apologize on behalf of all those who work for the organization to which this IP address belongs. I advise that edits from this IP address are blocked unless an account has been created and signed into.
Thanks.

- This IP was accused of adding promotional material for Parade in December of last year. The linkspam added by this account today, 7 months later, was likewise for Parade. So, the same person (or people) seem to keep getting this IP. If you are not associated with the linkspam, it would be best to get an account on wikipedia instead of editing anonymously. - Actually, this IP is registered to the promotional company for several magazines (including parade) - for that reason, it may be a different person. In any case, a warning for someone who was adding any sorts of spam will probably be seen - we often seen public addresses, and people usually get the message. However, there is not much need to worry - we often see forms of subtle spam. May I ask, if you are a person of authority from this address, perhaps you could email an administrator (see WP:LA) and ask for this block. Regards. The Evil Spartan 17:14, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

This is the discussion page for an anonymous user, identified by the user's numerical IP address. Some IP addresses change periodically, and may be shared by several users. If you are an anonymous user, you may create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other anonymous users. Registering also hides your IP address.
