[edit] Edit history
First of all, welcome to wikipedia. I'd be glad to try to help you. What you are calling "the record for my additions to Wikipedia" is simply called your edit history or contrib (short for contributions). You will note that your user name is a string of numbers. This string of numbers is your IP address, and when you edit from an IP address, it is called anonymous editing. What is happening here with your edit history is that someone back in February who happened to have your exact same IP address edited wikipedia. This is possible because many ISPs re-use IP addresses (and if you are editing from a public terminal such as a library or university, it is even more likely that someone from your IP address has edited before). There is no way to remove any connection between your recent edits and the ones from February because both edits came from the exact same IP address, even though it wasn't you the first time. So what does someone in your situation do? The easiest answer is to simply create an account (WP:ACCOUNT and [1]). This way, the computer will only keep track of edits made from a computer that is logged in under your unique username. Therefore, only the edits you make will show in your edit history, regardless what IP address you are editing from. Hope this helps. If you have any more questions, feel free to contact me.-Andrew c [talk] 15:53, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
This is the discussion page for an anonymous user, identified by the user's numerical IP address. Some IP addresses change periodically, and may be shared by several users. If you are an anonymous user, you may create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other anonymous users. Registering also hides your IP address.
