According to the Koppen climate classification, a c climate meets a d climate where the coldesst month averages -3C. Newark and most of New Jersey have coldest months which average below freezing but above -3C and so they are humid subtropical by Koppen, even though their climate isn't subtropical. I still don't get it. What is the different between subtropical and humid subtropical? Subtropical really means that mean temp. in coldest month is above 6C but below 18C

The climates aren't really subtropical, they are mesothermal, but according to Koppen, they are subtropical. Other users would probably be better at explaining this. Also, remember to sign your posts. Press olive, win oil (talk) 23:39, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
