- Hi, I'm a wiki newbie, and wondered why you removed my additions. The addition I've made to the Chabad page, is a book reference containing much content on the subject; and, while the links I've added to other pages - Snow, Judaism... - may seem like spam, they are totally legit and add depth (I think).
- Sorry to bother you and look forward to the clarification. -- —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.114.171.12 (talk • contribs) 19:42, 10 August 2006
- No worries - its fine to bother me. You should review Wikipedia's policies on adding external links and the general definitions of spam linking. In particular, you should not add links to your own web site or sites that you are associated with. It is also not enough for you web site to have some pages that discuss a subject such as Judaism or Snow. It would really need to be one of the most relevant web sites on Snow that exists anywhere on the internet in order to be included on the snow page. Unfortunately, in my opinion, the web site you linked isn't even close to being relevant.
- However, Wikipedia is built on concensus, so my opinion is just one of thousands. You could ask on Talk:snow to see whether other editors there think that the link is relevant and see whether one of them is willing to reintroduce it. -- Solipsist 20:04, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
- To clarify a little further, Wikipedia doesn't really want any external links. We would rather have content inside the encyclopedia. There are however a few circumstances where external links are appropriate as explained on the policy pages. -- 20:08, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
