[edit] Your edits to abortion

Please stop vandalizing the abortion article. If you seriously wish to help the pro-life cause here on Wikipedia, you should register an account, and then log in and calmly make your arguments for a particular wording on the abortion discussion page. If you continue, you will find your edits reverted within minutes, even by people who agree with them, and you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Thanks. AnnH (talk) 14:48, 9 December 2005 (UTC)

(From my talk page):
I'm sorry you take such an intolerant view of my opinions. The language and semantics of this debate are huge, as you no doubt know, and by your characterization of my comments as you have done, you've shown your true colors!
Regarding my "intolerant view" of your opinions — if you mean your opinion that the fetus is "a living child, a baby", I agree with that 100%. As a matter of fact, I send money to pro-life organizations, and I used to stand and pray outside abortion referral centres. But it won't do any good inserting that kind of language into an article here, because it will be reverted within minutes, sometimes even within seconds. As for my characterization of your comments, I asked you to stop vandalizing. It is Wikipedia policy that articles have to be written completely neutrally. We can't say it's the murder of a baby, and we can't say that it's the removal of a piece of tissue. The pro-life Wikipedians who follow the rules while working patiently to ensure that the articles don't end up siding with the abortionists do a lot of good here. Those who come in and insert stuff about murdering babies do not, in my opinion, achieve anything. If you want to achieve some good here, there's a way to do it while staying within Wikipedia policy. If not, you'll just find your edits get reverted and you get blocked. Regards. AnnH (talk) 15:24, 9 December 2005 (UTC)
Thank you for your reply. In future, when posting messages on any user's talk page (also known as discussion page) or on the talk page of any article, could you end your post with four tildes, like this ~~~~ . That will expand into a signature (giving your IP address, if you remain anonymous, or your user name if you register), and the date. Sometimes it gets difficult, when reading comments, to see who wrote what, and we have to go back to the history of the page to see which user or IP address was responsible for which comment.
If you'd like to get more familiar with Wikipedia policy, and to work within it, you could read Wikipedia:Neutral point of view and Wikipedia:NPOV tutorial. Wikipedia policy is that you can't put something in and claim it's neutral just because you believe it's true. For example, articles about convicted murderers don't say that X murdered Y (except, perhaps in cases where there was a confession); they say that X was convicted of murdering Y. The Michael Jackson article, assuming that it hasn't been recently vandalized, does not say that he molested children, or that he was innocent of the charges. It's fine to quote people who believe that abortion is murder, as long as these people are notable. You may feel that such regulations constrain you too much, although I personally believe that I have done a lot of good here by working within policy. I haven't managed, and indeed, I haven't tried, to get the pro-life side presented as a fact, but I have helped to ensure that the other side wasn't presented as a fact. If that sounds worthwhile, I'd suggest that you read the two NPOV policy documents I mentioned, and that you register an account, but of course, it's entirely up to you. Cheers.
