[edit] Edits to George McFarland
I noticed you made a lot of improvements to the article about George McFarland. First let me say that I appreciate the improvements and additional information you contributed to the article. Wikipedia depends on such contributions to build our knowledge base. As McFarland's son, you're in a unique position to contribute greatly to that article. That said, we have a guideline, Wikipedia:Conflict of interest, that suggests that those who have a conflict of interest (such as a close family relationship with the subject of an article) take a few steps to ensure that conflict doesn't bias the article they are editing. You've already taken the first step by acknowledging your relationship with the subject in an edit summary. I appreciate that. The second step is to confine your edits to the article's talk page, in this case Talk:George McFarland. Please try to confine editing to suggestion on that talk page. One good option is to rewrite sections or the entire article and paste the proposed rewrite on the talk page to let disinterested (i.e. neutral) editors discuss and modify. Another good way to contribute is to identify and publicize relevant sources, either by using them to directly source information already in the article or by posting them to the article's talk page. Either way, following the preceding suggestions should help us produce a comprehensive, neutral article with plenty of appropriate citations. Drop me a line if you have any questions. Thanks for your additions to Wikipedia and cheers!--Chaser - T 02:01, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
