[edit] An Automated Message from HagermanBot

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button Image:Wikisigbutton.png located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! HagermanBot 01:49, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Messing with my user page

Please do not add unhelpful and non-constructive information to Wikipedia, as you did to User:Cornellrockey. Your edits could be considered vandalism, and they have been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Cornell Rockey 01:53, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

Well, I'm not sure how the change was vandalism...let's see:

A single change was made...actually, there was no *material* change made at all.

One of the terms used in the article was "dork". I can only assume that this was actually written by Cornellrockey because it was preserved in the revert and was there prior to the change I made.

My vandalism sin (apparently) was to LINK "dork" to dork an actual article on wikipedia (which clairfies the many uses of the term and provides some history about it.

By linking to dork, I believe that I improved wikipedia by permitting readers without complete knowledge of the use (and context) of dork to have easy access to the article on the subject.

It is sad that such accusations are tossed about so freely.

However, I will openly concede that my knowledge of the nuance of rules is not complete and that if ths was an act of vandalism it was neither intentional nor with malice.

It would be fair to respond, though, as to why you felt that this *was* an act of vandalism. If you opposed the word "dork", then perhaps you should have removed it prior to my linking to it. If you thought that the term was appropriate, then you should explain why a simple link to an article providing additional detail was "vandalism".

...or if it was just a "knee jerk" reaction, then that explaination would suffice as well.

Warm Regards!

[edit] knee jerk reaction

Call it knee jerk if you will, but please read Wikipedia policy here regarding policy on editing other's user pages: WP:User page. I fully acknowledge that wikipedia isn't my website, but I consider my userpage my personal space, and I like the way it looks. I begrudge no one making positive edits the right to make edits to the encyclopedia, but as is, I regard any edits to my userpage that aren't my own as vandalism. I looked at your edit before I used the vandal warning, and I assumed it to be malicious in nature. If that was not the case, I apologize. Regardless, it is my userpage. Please do not edit it again.
I've attached the standard wikipedia greeting for new users below, as you've not yet gotten it. Also, please remember to sign your posts on talk pages using four of the ~ character; it adds your name and a date to the post. Cornell Rockey 05:11, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
