[edit] Organisation / Organization

Considering that the most important High IQ societies, Mensa, was created by an Australian and an Englishman, I find quite disruptive your "spelling" corrections. Please refer to Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style#National_varieties_of_English.--Asteriontalk 15:16, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

This was addressed on the Mensa International talk page (where they use -ize) ... I was just following the precedent set last summer ... BTW, American and British English spelling differences says ...

Worldwide, -ize endings prevail in scientific writing and are commonly used by many international organizations.

... regardless, it's a tempest in a tea pot and not worth edit waring ... "Two peoples separated by a common language." —68.239.79.97 (talk · contribs) 16:56, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Troll

hey how come you havnt replied to my post in the afro stereotype page , I posted the source like you asked but apperently your unable to argue with a FBI study so you resort to sendin me messages , and you call me a coward lol. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.72.59.106 (talkcontribs) 07:06, 11 April 2007

No response because I do not feed trolls. --68.239.79.97 08:42, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Response

In response to your post here. You might consider putting the article on WP:AFD. At this point, I'm staying away from the topic, much for the same reasons you are. I don't know if the creator is serious or a troll but he doesn't seem all that reasonable. I'll keep an eye on it but I will only make glaringly necessary edits to it. -- Mufka (user) (talk) (contribs) 21:06, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

I am working with a new editor to try to improve the page (actually formally adopting the user). It's their first page ever created. Please allow some slack as the article has improved quite a bit so far. I would like to remove the notability tag so we can work on it during the next few days without the threat of deletion hanging over our head. It would be discouraging to a new user if all their contributions were deleted. I promise you that if the article is bottom of the barrel lousy afterwards, I will have no objection to the usual deletion decision making process. Have you seen the Money_clip article? It's survived half a year even though our article is better.VK35 02:18, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] alcorn's books

If Camino chronicles is still in the running for a prize, I would not want to AfD it now.As for the others, I will watch for them on Afd. If you would like them AfD'd, get an username and do it yourself. & I will comment there. I am less than happy about doing Afd's for anons. DGG 03:47, 13 April 2007 (UTC).

See Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Camino Chronicle. —68.239.79.97 02:53, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
The result was Delete all. Jersey Devil 04:06, 21 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] In case User:Backpack45scb returns here ...

Please note the author's final comment at the AfD:

I will be travelling until May 10, 2007, so won't be able to respond to posts until then. (Backpack45scb 22:30, 17 April 2007 (UTC))

Would anyone suggest that this was a "Speedy AfD" because the author did not have enough time to find more WP:A? Or should Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Susan Alcorn (author) have served as a lesson to them? Were we Too Hasty in reaching the consensus in these cases? —68.239.79.82 04:28, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Relay of Youth

Got your verifiability tag, added some sources. The info in the article, except perhaps for some of the dates, is common knowledge for anyone who grew up in former Yugoslavia. Because of this it's difficult to find good sources, as this knowledge is usually taken for granted when discussing the Day of Youth. A source I found that spells out most of this is unfortunately by subscription only. I also used relevant Croatian and Serbian Wikipedia articles and linked to them. If you don't think this is satisfactory you can add the tags back... Miranche 04:14, 14 April 2007 (UTC)

Replied on talk page for article. —68.239.79.97 11:24, 14 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Hey

Will you please let me remove the { { Notability|date=April 2007 } }{ { Primarysources|date=April 2007 } } from Gatlinburg Police Department article. With those on there my reflist wont show neither will the { stub } or the internal links show. I need those removed.Harebag 14:12, 14 April 2007 (UTC)

Tags should not prevent anything from showing ... add some WP:RS citations to show WP:N and the tags can come off ... read Wikipedia:Attribution and find some citation's of notability other than the subject's website. --68.239.79.97 15:43, 14 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] E. Bernard Jordan

You tagged this article for speedy deletion as non-notable. As I don't think this is a clear cut case, I have removed the speedy tag (I also deleted numerous potentially libelous revisions, but that's a different matter). If you still feel the article should be deleted, I would be more than happy to do the articles for deletion process on your behalf (anonymous IPs cannot create pages, so they can't complete the nomination). Natalie 17:35, 14 April 2007 (UTC)

Thnx for the cleanup ... I've restored the {{unreferenced}} and {{notability}} tags ... we'll see what happens over the next week or so. --68.239.79.97 20:21, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
Sounds good. Natalie

[edit] Remaining anonymous

It's Harebag, Anonymous. I recently joined newpages patroller. Anyway I found two users who think they can use Wikipedia as they see it. Their names are User:‎Ethioprincess7 and User:76.64.32.127. I taged their article for speedy deletion. It's name was Rahwa Leakemariam. I am not trying to make trouble but I know Wikipedia doesn't allow this kind of behavior. I admit I've got very angry at times but I've tried to follow the guidelines. I would appreciate it if you would keep me anonymous, I don't want them to vandalise my articles. Thanks. Harebag 02:35, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

If you really want to remain anonymous to avoid vandals, then don't edit their talk pages while logged in to your user account ... signing as Anonymous does not hide you, since they can simply hit "History" and see who made the edit, like here and here ... the trick is to logout first, and then only your current IP address will appear in the signature and in the edit history ... simply failing to sign a post will cause some other editor to leave an {{unsigned}} tag, as I apparently did (although it was not immediately obvious from your post that that is what you were referring to) ... and try to leave a more descriptive title for your posts than just, "Hey." —68.239.79.97 06:21, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
Looking back on the edit histories, it was Some Other Editor who put the {{unsigned}} tags on Harebag's unsigned posts, hours after I warned that it might happen! —68.239.79.82 03:30, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] closing

You asked me to close some articles, but doesn't closing these to delete mean deleting? I'm not an admin & can't do that--or what is it that I am misunderstanding, which may well be the case? DGG 07:44, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

Sorry, the misunderstanding was mine ... I thought that you were an admin. :-) —68.239.79.97 08:19, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
BTW, DDG, congratulations on your recent RFA! :-) —68.239.79.82 04:45, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Regarding edits made during April 22, 2007 (UTC)

Please do not replace Wikipedia pages or sections with blank content. It is considered vandalism. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. Thanks. If this is an IP address, and it is shared by multiple users, ignore this warning if you did not make any unconstructive edits. --♪♫ ĽąĦĩŘǔ ♫♪ walkie-talkie 14:54, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

I have no idea what you are talking about, and nothing in my edit history will reveal any page or section blanking ... you must have mistaken my edits for those of some other editor ... and if you are going to place {{blank2}} templates on pages, at least learn how to use them correctly. —68.239.79.97 15:07, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
Found it ... you did not examine all of the changes in my edit to this page (you need to scroll down to see them all) ... I did not blank a section; I moved it to the bottom so that they are in chronological order ... I also added wikilinks to several episodes, and your revert deleted them ... please be more careful before you start calling people vandals. —68.239.79.97 15:23, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
Sorry about the inconvenience, it won't happen again. And thank you for letting me know that. Happy editing! --♪♫ ĽąĦĩŘǔ ♫♪ walkie-talkie 15:35, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] speedy deletes vandalism

Welcome to Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia. One or more of your recent edits have been considered unhelpful or unconstructive and have been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you.

You can't just put speedy delete notices on pages (like you did with The Granada Forum) without providing evidence and discussion on the article's talk page. I see you're a "new" anonymous user who has presumably had a bad past with Wikipedia (were you banned, perhaps?). I suggest reforming your actions unless you have a desire to possibly go down that path again... Get an identity already and quit hiding behind anonymity. If you can't face your past you won't be able to cope with your future. -Eep² 20:32, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

Responses from other editors and admins may be found here and here --68.239.79.97 23:45, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
And yet, less that a fortnight later, I was blocked for a week for violating WP:CIVIL ... thnx for standing up for me, Teke. —68.239.79.82 02:56, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Saladin

Yeah I pretty much just reverted because of the spelling. It especially peeves me when people needlessly change British spellings to American. I figured I would go back and fix the coat of arms links later. Adam Bishop 00:02, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

Blame the spell-checker in my Web browser ... "I'm here to repair it, not to defend it" ... and I also fixed the errors you reverted that were not British/American spelling differences. --68.239.79.97 02:22, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] CSD

Maybe you should read the criteria for speedy deletion before you tag articles as A7. Rockstar (T/C) 16:47, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

And you should read Wikipedia:Notability (music)#Criteria for musicians and ensembles before you assert that only a link to the subject's website and a link to their MySpace page are sufficient to establish notability. --68.239.79.97 17:19, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
Incorrect again. WP:MUSIC states that if a band does not fulfill the guidelines, it does not qualify to be speedy deleted if notability has been asserted, which, in this case, it had. It's right there in the second paragraph. Rockstar (T/C) 17:23, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
The fundamental problem with Panacea (group) is WP:A#Wikipedia articles must be based on reliable sources, and neither the subject's own website or a MySpace page can be considered WP:RS for any kind of article ... besides, nothing in the article "asserts" notability unless you are trying to squeek past

5. Has released two or more albums on a major label or one of the more important indie labels

with only one album under the Rawkus Records label and another under a NN indie label. --68.239.79.97 18:51, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
None of what you said makes the band fall under A7. Unreferenced and not fulfilling WP:MUSIC is not covered under the CSD. But go ahead and keep up the CSD, I don't care. You'll see I'm right. Rockstar (T/C) 19:15, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
So that you don't make this mistake again, you might want to read this, which gives a good explanation of A7. Rockstar (T/C) 19:17, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Re:Brian Brinkley

Oh wow, I'm sorry I missed that follow-up. I see that the article is PRODed, and I would support an AfD should you chose to nominate it. I don't need to do the dirty work, as an IP you can do everything but express a support/oppose/neutral opinion in RfA. But I'm sure you knew that :P You and Rockstar were kind of harsh to each other above, perhaps that's something to work on (though he did get off on the wrong foot first). Teke 01:58, 3 May 2007 (UTC)

That prod was removed two weeks ago ... there's nothing but a {{Notability}} tag on it now, and it still lacks any WP:A, but my new rule is, "If no one else wants to get involved, just move on!" so I'm not even going to bother to put an {{Unreferenced}} tag on it.
And the totally bogus What links here is really not my problem ... I documented it on the talk page, and someone who cares more about Wikipedia than I do can do something about it ... as long as Verizon keeps changing my IP address every few weeks, I can waste my time here without being stalked by the trolls, which is one reason I gave up using a registered account. (I no longer suffer from the delusion that I am "making a difference", although Wikipedia remains a codependent enabler of my Schizoaffective disorder.) —72.75.73.158 (talk · contribs) 03:48, 3 May 2007 (UTC)
Well, it looks like my Evil Twin came back two days later and prod'd it again ... OTOH, the author hadn't been back to edit it for over a fortnight (2007-04-20 to 2007-05-05), and this one (the second prod, although it was the first one by me since my original CSD was converted two weeks before) will expire on 2007-05-10 if no one does any improvements.
BTW, my original CSD was on 2007-04-19, which User:Teke converted into the first prod on 2007-04-20 (to give the author more time for add some sources), and that one would have expired on 2007-04-25 if it hadn't been removed the same day by a third editor (not the author, unless they forgot to login first) ... I no longer care if it stays or gets deleted, just updating this thread. —68.239.79.82 11:34, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
And the prod has expired, I have deleted the article. Teke 01:33, 11 May 2007 (UTC)
